Podcasts Anyone ?
Ask a Question
So I like a crime podcast. True story. Motivation. Weird. Obscure. Sometimes desert island discs.
But am running out of current subscribed podcasters. Anyone got anything they listen that are good to recommend ? Don’t like the chatty laughs if it’s meant to be serious soz.. but anything else on topic and I’ll happily give it a try.
Not sure if I’m an insomniac or just need bedtime stories
I’m with you on the chatty podcasts. I prefer narrated ones. I also am a huge fan of white collar crimes podcasts.
I would highly recommend listening to Swindled - the narrator’s voice is very monotone but the storytelling is unparalleled.
You can also try Mugshot, Con Artists, Fool Me Twice (romance scam) and American Greed. There’s absolutely no chat in any of them.
I enjoyed listening to Death In Ice Valley - it’s a podcast entirely about The Isdal Woman, a woman who was found dead in 1970 and has never been identified. I think it was 12 separate identities she had used to travel around, if I remember right, but all of them were fake, and her true identity is still unknown to this day. They do chat a little (such as when they go to the scene in Bergen, they talk about what they see there etc) but it’s told more or less as a story rather than talking about entirely separate topics.
Anyone got any good recommendations for podcasts. My internet is crappy and doesnt connect to my gym wifi anymore and wanna download podcasts when I can so I can listen whilst at the gym.
One I'm really enjoying at the moment is Uncanny, it's sort of UK horror/ghost story based, it's very good.
I can also recommend Off Menu, Walking the Dog, My Time Capsule & Something Rhymes with Purple.
Off Menu is great fun and can often reveal things about the guests that are being questioned about their ideal menu choice in a fantasy restaurant. Ed Gamble also does the Taskmaster podcast - if you are a fan of Taskmaster then its required listening. (no point if you are not!)
Anyone who likes true crime podcasts, I'd recommend 'voices for justice'. It's hosted by Sarah Turney who's half sister Alissa Turney disappeared in her teens 20 years ago, Sarah now an adult discovers her father was secretly recording Alissa & has come to the belief her father was abusing & eventually killed Alissa. She talks candidly about events she remembers & interviews family & friends of Alissa. The evidence & the attention to the cold case did eventually lead to the fathers arrest last year...
