A Christmas hit released back in the 1980s is apparently now deemed as being offensive by some people, because it has the words "f@gg0t" and "$lut" in it. I am very much all for equality but I think this is going too far and just getting offended for the sake of it. I am female, and the "$lut" part doesn't at all offend me and I have never even thought about it, and I have seen comments from gay people who say that they aren't at all offended by the usage of the word "f@gg0t" in the song.
I read somewhere that the meaning of f@gg0t in this instance is Irish/Scouse dialect for a lazy person.
The word fag/faggot has a different meaning in U.K. than it does in U.S./Canada.
In U.K., a *** is a cigarette, while ****** is some part of pork meat.
I'll never forget that because I bought ****** meat (it was from Farmfoods) to try out and it tasted awful. lol
Anyway, BBC is BBC. There's a lot of people who still think they're trustworthy.
Edit: The words were censored even though it's not a U.S. website. lmao
When my kids were young we had Brains faggots with mash and peas for dinner sometimes, they didn't like them!
How dare they mess with my favourite Christmas song - it's the only one that everyone wants to get involved in.......they should be reminded of their stand on the 'Last night of the Proms' debacle. They are becoming so PC they are leaving the rest of us mere mortals behind, head scratching.
I'm hoping the publicity will push it up the charts, they may get to be a Christmas Number One all these years later.

I can't stand the song! I turn the radio over whenever it comes on anyway. I thought I might grow to like it with age, but year when I try to listen to it I get about 20 seconds in and have to turn off. Didn't even know those words were in the song.
My next confession will be booed. I can't stand 'Do they know it's Christmas?'
The BBC is not fit for purpose and should be made a subscription service immediately.
We'd soon see how many subscribers that they would get and I don't think the BBC would survive, which would be a good thing imo.

Apparently it is only Radio 1 that are censoring certain words in the song as they have a young and ‘sensitive’ audience! For any oldies that listen to Radio 2, the song will remain intact.
Blimey I would have thought other way round. Every group of teens I pass are effing and blinding away, obviously not that sensitive. Desensitized I would say!

Not just BBBC stations. Im listening to metro radio ( part of hits radio network) and this morning they played the song and have changed the lyrics
It has been censored in previous years too - it's really annoying. They do it to lots of films too. It's a real bug bear of mine.
Unfortunately I have other reasons why I do not like listening to the song, due to the unfortunate death of Kirsty MacColl.
