Is It Possible to Live for Free?

Freebies

🤔 I've been looking into ways to live cheaper, I actually think a lot of things in life can be free, you just need to know where to look 😂 I actually think if you joined enough review sites, you could potentially cut out spending completely on things like toiletries, what do you think?

😂 That would be great! We can't afford lavish holidays so if I can learn to live for free I'll be heading to somewhere warm! That's the dream anyway 🕶🏖

Have you watched Extreme Cheapskates? That show shows you the extreme measures people go to to spend as little as possible. It is a mix of impressive & insane!

I think you could live a free lifestyle if you were savvy enough but I think it would definitely be hard work & take a lot of planning & coordinating. I think a good compromise is to live frugally but treat yourself every now & again. If you were lucky enough to get accepted on lots of free trials that would take a big chunk out of your monthly spending but I never get accepted on them!

Hmm yes I think it might be possible to get groceries, toiletries, pet supplies all for free. Doubt I could get my bills paid though 😂 Just have to get them down as cheap as possible.

I've taken a look at Amazon and it reminded me of Steal this book by Abbie Hoffman. This was written towards the end of the hippie movement in the USA. I read it last year and wondered if there was a update to date version with tips that could be carried out in the UK. Looks like there is! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Steal-This-Book-Abbie-Hoffman/dp/156858217X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1537443804&sr=1-1&keywords=steal+this+book

I do not think so it is possible. Even if you want to go somewhere you will need take a train and pay for it.

You can be a guardian if you not married and have no one and pay less for taking care of a place.

These are the main expenses also it will be hard to not pay for electricity, gas and water.

So if these things were free....could live nearly free...

Yes I don't think you can live bill free completely 🤔 Transport wise me and my husband used to cycle to work which is fine for shorter journeys. Longer journeys it might be cheaper to get an electric car 😂

If you find out the answer to this question let me know 😂 I think there’s definitely ways to cut back, me personally I’m not going to do anything extreme like bin diving to save on dinner etc. But it would be nice to figure out some cheaper ways to live for sure!

😂 No I definitely wouldn't bin dive! I was thinking more like extreme couponing 🤣

I've thought about this too..and no you can't. I f I had a plot of land and then just lived on it in say a tent or caravan, using my own means of light and burn my own rubbish I'd still be liable for council tax. I think?

Nope - you can be super-frugal and self-sufficient but you can't live for free. Actually I think some people can - namely 'children. 😆

Good point. I worked with a lady once who married a millionaire. He ran off with his secretary and had used her name in dodgy deals so she was left pregnant and 10 grand in debt! That didn't work out so well for her.

I think you can 'exist' for free. Think of the homeless. Soup kitchens not only provide invaluable food and warm clothing as well as a friendly face. If they are lucky enough to get into a shelter, there is a bed, free health checks etc but who would want that life. 'Living' is a completely different thing and no, you can't.

I think the only way to live for free is a complete overthrow of the current state, government and financial institutions! I mean if you manage to pay off your mortgage, you still have to pay council tax on the land. You never own it. If you could claim a patch of land as your own, keep farm animals, chickens, grow your own food and use solar power as well as log burning for energy and trade and barter your excess goods from your land, then maybe you could live for free. That system of living was done away with a long time ago. You'd also have to make your own clothes. You would be busy from the crack of dawn to the end of the day. Would you be happier? There's a question. The best I think we can all do is live as cheaply as possible and not get sucked into buying endless amounts of rubbish that we don't need.

Yes you're right. We live in a society where overspending and building huge debts is acceptable but working full time and still living below the breadline is also so common. It just doesn't make sense to me. The people get poorer and the businesses grow bigger 🤔 I just think we need to be more money savvy 😂

I don't think you can live for free as you will always have your bills to pay for, like your rent, electricity, insurance etc you could live for cheap in terms of groceries, toiletries etc but not for free.
