Poundland Not Just £1 Anymore

Ask a Question

They’ve been selling things at different prices for a while now, and now they’ve officially declared their newer pricing strategy will mean more 50p and £5 offers in branches nationwide

Is this a better move/fit with the current retail environment?

I think a poundshop should be stuff £1 or less i worked at poundworld before they went under and think they got greedy then look what happened i think poundland will be next especially now they've opened one below stores.

I agree. If the6 have things less than £1 they will keep customers happy. If their prices can range up to £5, then a lot of people will shop elsewhere

I feel like they’ve been this way for quite a while already, they’ve had the £2 and £5 ranges for years now.. all they are doing different is adding a 50p line... there’s a pound world next to poundland in my local shopping centre and they have 50p / 75p lines already, I think there’s too many poundshops at the moment...

Lot of stuff they used to sell at £1 they no longer sell because they have tight margins and the lower value of the pound means no longer profitable but I'd rather some of those items came back at £1.25 rather than disappear completely. Also the thing where they keep reducing pack sizes to hit £1 so you used to get 6 batteries for a £1 and now its 5 or 4 etc. No doubt in the future it might reduce to 3 batteries but many of my devices take 4 batteries so I'd rather it went up 10p.

I get irritated with the space that £5 items are taking some of which are actually poor value compared to some other shops.

Personally I'd rather it was a everything under £2 shop.
