What do you think of this?

If you over 35 you just get a into a risk factor because of your age. Which means increased amount of folic acid need to be taken and u have to go to more tests...

I would not leave it too late because body not adapts as well and not heals as well.

My sister had her 3rd baby at 40 and she is finding it really hard work. Dont get me wrong she loves being a mum again but is tired all the time and missing the freedom she used to have to work when she wanted and go out when she wanted. Her eldest is 19 then she has an 11 yr old now a 1 yr old. Don’t think I would want to start again at 40 but it really is each to their own.

I think it's a good idea if you already have young children and tired anyway, but not so great if it's a massive age gap.

ShellyWilliams not sure I would have a baby because my child requested it lol. You have asked the question so please do not get upset if I reply honestly, even though my opinions are negative, they are mine and can be ignored. I am well aware not many folk will agree with me.

  1. There are already too many people in the country/world.
  2. You already have 4 healthy kids, both genders.
  3. The risk of disability, downs etc increases with age.
  4. In 10 years you will be relatively free of the bulk of child care and I assume you will be 50 or more then. Do you want to extend that another 7 years until you are heading to 60? I would want to be enjoying grandchildren.
  5. Unless you are well off another child will be another drain on resources.
  6. Will each child have quality time with you or will you always be tired? If they haven't already your energy levels will be reducing.

I must admit, I could think of many more negatives but I am afraid I can think of no positives. But of course my negatives would not count if someone of 40+ was trying for a first child.

In the news this week an Indian couple of 73 and 82 have just had twins by IVF and try as I may I cannot understand them or the doctors who did it.

Lynibis Makes me giggle how people always think because I have multiple children, then I am a financial drain.....Believe me when I say this, the tax man gets paid well on a monthly basis ! I do not claim benefits, house paid off, we have savings, eat well etc etc.....

Sorry Shelly I meant a drain on your resources in no.5. But every human being uses up resources too, what people call the carbon footprint these days.

Was not for one moment suggesting anything to do with benefits, or you wouldn't be posting designer bags lol.

I guess people like the Ramsays and Beckham's don't have to worry about turning off lights or putting the heating on so they use up far more resources than those who are less well off.

I think if you already have 4 children and the only reason you are considering it is because your daughter is asking then it is something you really need to discuss with your partner and need to be absolutely sure about.

There are lots more risks when you are over 40, for you and baby. You need to think about how you would manage if it turned out your baby had a disability or a serious health condition and how it would impact on your family.

Noooooo I wouldn't have another baby because my daughter wanted me to. I have been blessed with four beautiful, caring, healthy children who I adore.

We have just finished paying off the house, have saving and are not paying childcare costs because I work around school times etc. I think you get to my age and think for someone who is starting out at 40 !! My word....hats off to you !.
