Processed Cheese Slices Voted Britain's Favourite - What Are You Thoughts?
Ask a Question
Do you think this is a source of national pride of embarrassment?
Four out of 10 people said it was their favourite.
I love cheese, you can't beat a good cheese board. But I would never buy it. My preference is strong mature cheddar, black bomber, Red Leicester etc

Definitely embarrassment! Why do people love eating so much processed junk? They don't even taste like cheese but obviously it is too much trouble to slice a bit of cheddar.
I think the clue is the fact that the survey was by Food Hub - the online takeaway people. The pretend cheese slice is very much a staple of the takeaway burger.
Nah not for me, like you I'd prefer a decent cheese board. They are good for when I have to give the dog some medications tho.
Have you ever tried fooling him? I have this utensil for thinly slicing cheese. If he has other things in the sandwich he may not even notice. You could also explain to him that processed food is not good for him and you would prefer him to eat the natural tasty foods.
Not for me they taste like plastic I prefer a nice bit of Wensleydale or a bit of mature cheddar
I guess people like what they like, although it is a little embarrassing.
I love most cheeses - with particular favourites being Cornish Yarg, A medium strength Cheddar, and of course some nice crumbly Wensleydale (Preferably with a slice of fruit cake)
UGH no thank you very much! I love extra mature cheddar but def not processed slices or strings etc.
I don't mind cheese slices, but they wouldn't be anywhere near my top ten favourite cheeses.
Although, I'd like to see more information on how this survey was conducted. Foodhub (UK) is a online takeaway ordering service. Was the sample only taken from their customers or did it also include non-customers. If Waitrose did a similar survey with their customers I'd assume cheese slices wouldn't come out top
I thought these things were only used to top burgers and I don't eat burgers! I could go for a nice red leicester, vintage cheddar, stilton or boursin (Yes, I know it's not English!). I could go on as there are plenty of proper cheeses out there but I expect you are bored by now...
It is embarrassing! With so many different types of cheese to choose from. I wonder how many people took part in the survey and what choices they were given?
I absolutely love cheese, cheese on toast, cheese sandwiches, cheese sprinkled on most my meals and cheese slices in burgers. Would I put the cheese slice as a top favourite, no, it would have to be good old English cheddar for me.
beccatavender I must say that Black Bomber is one of my favorites too. Bit pricey though and difficult to get hold of around here.
MrsChimp likes Wensleydale with cranberries or apricots. Pudding cheese, I call it.
For me I prefer a fairly strong cheddar, I don't mind a few other cheeses with the exception of the soft or blue ones. The plastic cheese slices are on melted in a burger but again rather cheddar of there's an option to do so
