PS4 or Xbox X
Ask a Question
Please help, what are the pros and cons of each ??
I want to buy my son one for xmas !.
Thanks for your help in advance
With these situations a large part of it is what his friends game on, if they are mainly xbox then that makes more sense so they can play together online.
Next Christmas the new PS5 and Xbox will be launched but they should be backwards compatible. If your son likes japanese games then PS4 pro or PS4 is the better option.
What tv does your son use, much of the benefits of PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are higher resolution near 4k graphics which won't make a huge amount of difference if his bedroom set is 720p.
Remember PS4 is market leader and so tends to have the widest variety of games.
Both PS4 and Xbox One are great consoles though, I guess the safest bet is a PS4 or PS4 Pro.
Playstation 5 and Xbox Project Scarlett will be released next year so it is not worth buying PS4 or Xbox X this year.
2020 is just around the corner, don't bother spending £300+ on a current generation console. PS5 and the new Xbox are going to be released during Christmas 2020 or so.
How old is your son? We went from a Nintendo switch to an xbox x. My son absolutely loves it! He is 8 and i have another who is 6 but not as tech as me 8 year old do hes getting an Xbox one s. ive no experience with play stations but was advised on gaming sites to go with the Xbox
With an Xbox you can basically just sign up for Game Pass (paid service) and that alone has tons of games so you wouldn't need to buy any.
Rockman That is a good deal but I tend to buy games discounted play for a month or so and sell on unless its something I really like which I keep long term. I bought Sonic Racing a while back discounted and then sold it on many weeks later for more than I actually paid by 10s of pence. I enjoyed Sonic Racing and may buy again in the future when cheap but have got bored of it for the time being.
Gamepass I think is £7.99 a month and makes a lot of sense but I'm not sure it makes sense to just keep the subscription going, that is £96 per year or close to £300 over 3 years. Makes more sense to have it for a couple of months and binge game the best titles, cancel and then wait for new games you want to be added etc maybe in 6 months time. When people look at their outgoings and realise they are paying monthly subscriptions, phone contracts, insurance and many other monthly costs it erodes their living standards and can lead to more debt because a large chunk of their money is disappearing per month. I guess my point is always be wary of long term subscriptions. It's not like its just £8 as people will need xbox live gold as well for online access.
My son is 13 and has the xbox one s (its what the majority of his friends use). I wouldnt bother with the xbox x as the new one is out next year.
