My Pup is Turning One What's Best Dry Food to Put Her On?

Ask a Question

Hi so I currently feed her tesco puppy tins and wilko puppy biscuits but she is due to change over to adult.

What's the best dry food to put her on?

Biggest bag for value

Will be changing her tins to pedigree as she's a little over weight by 1kg

We used to wainwrights dry dog food for our dogs because its hypoallergenic and certain foods would make their skin flare up. Someone in pets at home told us to get the one from aldi which is basically the same and our dogs love it (weve been using it for years now) and its much cheaper than the wainwrights.

what breed is she? That will affect what she should have... i use Skinners Field and Trial Duck and Rice, it’s wheat, maize and grain free and high protein.. I get it on amazon for £25 for a 15kg bag. I visibly noticed the difference in my dogs muscles / shape when I switched them to this because it’s such good quality food, and they love it..

AliceBaker my two are Dalmatians, they need a diet for sensitive bellies and they are completely fine on skinners 🙂

Hello what breed is she neutered and how active as all will influence what she needs. Wainwrights is good in my experience and second sarahgreen15 and CathSho13 youre better getting a hyopoallergenic and better protein as ultimately you will be giving better nutrition with less food- which is usually full of bulk and fillers for the price! I would look at maybe just a dry kibble better for digestion muscles and keeping teeth healthy- go in and ask at pets at home or phone your vets for some free advice once you narrow down a selection they often do free puppy checks and are happy to help usually. Someone else recommended the same dry food so must be really good, pets at home isn't my vets but I have one local so may just have to do that thank you for your advice and help!

A lot of dry foods are bulked out with wheat which is bad for them, Millies Wolfheart is good, you can buy online in bulk

Use the ’all about dog food’ directory. The website is amazing and has a very comprehensive list of food and treats so you can look up the cost, ingredients, etc of what you are feeding your pup now and compare others you are considering transitioning them onto to help make an informed choice.
