The Purge Film Series

Does anyone else not find the purge films a bit boring? . Dont get me wrong i like the plot behind the whole series of what is legal and allowed one night a year but before watching them I was told they were really good and scary. Does anyone like them or have any recommendations of anything that is going to get my attention?
I enjoyed the first Purge film, mainly because it was an original Idea.
They've gone off the boil a little bit for me now.
I preferred the series not films another good series I just recently started watching is orphan black.
I like the films and the series. Don't think there is anything else they can do in the films though. Not usually a fan of series that changes characters each series but seems to work here
