Have You Put up Your Christmas Decorations Yet?

Ask a Question

I was just watching the news and there was a report saying that there has been an increased of sales of real Christmas trees.

Also on Look North last night they were sharing photos of Christmas decorations from viewers. Are people putting them earlier to cheer themselves up?

We haven't put ours up, it seems a bit early. But I understand why some people have already done it, it's been a tough year.

I can understand why it might seem a bit early to put up decorations. The thing is that it takes the same amount of effort to put these up whether you do it on 1 Dec or 24 Dec. By putting them up early, we're getting the maximum reward and enjoyment for the effort that we spent putting them up.

No, it’s still a bit early. I’d wait a couple more weeks. It’s only special when it’s out at the right time

I wish I could put mine up now but with two toddlers it will be a nightmare 😂

Yes, mine have all gone up, front garden, back garden and indoors. That’s my favourite bit about Christmas, I don’t actually like Christmas Day.

I don't own any Christmas decorations so none to put up! I have a small pine cone Christmas tree which goes on the bookcase and a glass box with a Christmas scene with fairy lights in it. That is the extent of my decorations and they won't be going up this year unless my husband wants them up.

I stopped buying a real tree years ago. I can put it down to sustainability these days and gloat that I have a tree that comes out every year, with the same decorations. Xx

Not yet. I have been thinking it’s far too early, but all of a sudden it’s not too early at all. Cards to send first though.

You're so right. That's exactly what we're doing, at least in this house. The weather, the pandemic and the job market are the most depressing things. So we've put up the tree to make the house pretty and we're doing a bit more each day. Trying to spread out the fun.

Not yet, but will be up by Sunday. Iv done the 'big' Christmas clean this week & bought some new decor bits n pieces. Will likely make a day of it Sat or Sun.

Tradition dictates that Christmas trees should be put up at the beginning of Advent – the fourth Sunday before Christmas – which this year falls on 29 November. That's why I keep seeing lots of trees up early this year and why not? It has been rough hasn't it???

I generally leave it until 12 nights before Christmas.

I'm undecided to unleash the toilet brush this year as a) it takes an eternity to turn into a decorated tree and b) there's spiders in the attic 😂😂😂 might just make the outside all blingy instead
