Evening all my pup seems to not enjoy dry food she will eat if handful put into wet food but not dry. I don’t really won’t her to have a tin diet she is going to start eating fresh chicken heart liver etc but how do you all moisten there kibble
Ex used to soak it in hot water then give when cooled. They never had tins always dried soaked, present lab is 14
Ann1984 The only time they had anything added was if there was scraps left on kids plate or a bit of gravy. If pups got upset tum they got a scrambled egg with boiled rice
Our dog (Gilbert) has a condition where he has a job swallowing food properly so he has to have his food as a liquid in order to get it (and keep it) down. We have to soak his dried food (Crave) then blend it in plenty of water. He also gets tinned food - again well watered down. He also has to eat standing up so the food is above shoulder height with his paws on a step, to help the food go down. Its a bit of a faff but having almost lost him once its keeping him well. We have to be really careful that he does not get treats from anyone which is a real shame. Even then he is still quite often sick, so carpets are a big no in our house!
Our dog is a bit similar and goes through phases where she turns her nose up at the dry food. I rotate the brands so that there is a bit of variety and if she’s not eating, I make up some low salt gravy to add. That does the trick.
What the 1st comment said, I used to work with dogs and all dry food was quickly soaked under tap just enough to make it go a bit soggy, the dogs all wolfed it down.
I have fed all my dogs Labradors and boxer on skinners field and trial muesli it’s grate for fussy eaters as it can be served dry or soaked it makes its own gravy when it’s soaked in hot water and can be fed warm, but how old is you pup? As it could be teething ,
Ah ok sounds like she is just at the stage we’re she maybe does not like the food you have her on all my puppy’s started out on the skinners field and trial puppy food until they were a year old I used to feed that soaked in hot water and given to the pup when it was warm I would give one soaked in warm puppy milk for breakfast one soaked in hot water for dinner and I would give the tea time feed soaked warm with some mashed vegetables
