Question Can People Tell Others Buy Elsewer Its Cheaper
Ask a Question
can other people on the site go on ur post and say that such and such is cheaper at B&M ? i think its a bit ignorant when ur doing this person thats not even posted anything comes along and says hey cheaper in such a shop ... grrr makes me angry i think its pig ignorant
I've no problems with it - the idea behind this site is to find the best prices, if anyone beats any price on my deals I'd rather them mention it than keep quiet.
There is perhaps a right and wrong way to do it. I pointed out to someone a thing they had said they were buying was in Argos Sale about £5 less- that didn't disrespect the person who'd posted the original deal in any way. (the price on their deal wasn't a Sale price - and would still be a good deal when the Sale ended).
The whole premis of the site is to save people money so by pointing out a cheaper deal they're doing just that. Granted it should be done in a nice way though
They just said that's cheaper in b&m if u got it near u ... if I'd of been telling someone I'd of said excuse me jojo but u cAn get it at b&m n I thought I'd mention it ...just seemed harsh
In general pointing out that something can be found cheaper elsewhere for less is helpful.
I just wish that when people make such ‘it’s cheaper at..’ comments they check they are correct first. Very often it’s not the same brand or model. (By the way the cheaper Station Wall Clock at B&M is not the same as the one you posted!)
My pet hate on LD is being told something can be found cheaper on eBay. What people often don’t realise is that there are lots of people selling off old clearance stock on eBay in packaging that has now been replaced, goods in damaged packaging etc that mainstream retailers have rejected, goods that have been flogged off by the big retailers because it’s near its expiry date, or that what they’re buying has still to be shipped from China and will take several weeks to arrive and comes with no meaningful UK warranty.
Very often if it’s cheaper on eBay there’s a (hidden) reason why, and you need to figure out what it is.
That said, lots of well established uk retailers - like Very and Currys - have official eBay Outlets and buying from them should be problem free.
Johnny I actually thought the one referred to was for Zoflora I'm working from memory but think the deal posted was 6 for £30 whereas it was pointed out (not rudely IMO) they were just under £4 each elsewhere. That same 6 for £30 had been posted by someone else previously in early January.
I could be wrong because I can't recall B&M being mentioned.
Johnny You're correct Johnny the one at B&M is much smaller and a different design - I've pointed that out on JoJo's deal in reply to that post. I personally don't think the comment was rude though - just trying to be helpful.
davidstockport Thanks davidstockport, that was me I said home bargains, why pay 30 pounds when you can get it for 24 pounds,we all love a bargain, and jojowane67 is cool she post lots of comps,so I was trying to save you all money, and yes they are the lg size flora, there selling for 8.99 on ebay, another saving, thanks again.
cloud9 I saw nothing wrong with your or the other person's intervention. Although as someone else has said, the other wasn't comparing like with like. But that was an honest mistake, i'd gone to JoJo's deals and saw yours first. and later was working from memory.
It's surprising how many wrongly assume that buying in bulk saves money - you proved them wrong
Is it this comment on your clock deal?
It stings when it happens so I feel for you.. but it also stings when you pay £12.99 for a clock and then see it elsewhere for £9.99
Has the cheaper deal already been posted? Have you checked if the commenter is even correct?
This site needs high discipline like this in order to flourish. I came from another deal site where you're kept strictly on your toes! If your deal is available anywhere else cheaper you will find out very quickly - and often bluntly. It's not about sparing people's feelings though. It's what keeps everything razor sharp. After a while you find the best way to handle it is to just say fairplay to the person and maybe ask if you can repost the deal at the better price.
It will eventually lead you to having a good search around before you post a deal just to make sure it is actually a good deal.
I agree that people should take a few minutes to check if the deal they're posting can be bettered. I did post one deal that I knew could be beat by four pence - but justified that because the one costing four pence more had next day delivery, and knew the supplier to be reliable.https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/deals/good-price-quality-electro-acoustic-classical-guitar-gak
davidstockport That's the level of discipline required, right down to the penny.
I know you to be quite handy with images so was surprised to see the low res picture you used for your guitar deal. With the greatest of respect of course.
I collaborated with another user here tonight to improve an image on a deal, it was a great example of teamwork. We could do the same for your guitar deal. Such a well crafted instrument deserves the best image available!
How does this one look?
As already stated above - By the way the cheaper Station Wall Clock at B&M is not the same as the one you posted!
Did you add to your comment? Isn't that a turn up for the books? Should make OP feel better.
jojowane67 make sure to set the record straight otherwise you could lose upvotes
Its probably been written on one of my posts at some point that something i have listed is cheaper elsewhere but it doesnt really bother me. Im a huge online shopper so 99% of my stuff comes from online and online deals is what i generally post. If something i post is genuinely cheaper instore somewhere and someone comments that , then good for them and any other members who could benefit from it. I would likely encourage them to make their own post with the cheaper deal.
I agree. That's how it should be. It's just a shame that sometimes an excellent deal post gets undermined when someone (incorrectly) comments 'cheaper elsewhere'.
Sometimes it can be cheaper, but in fact isn't a better deal because there's a delivery charge.
I don't think there's any rule to stop you making your own post using the cheaper deal they mention, but good manners do decree that you should thank them when replying to their comment.
Johnny thanks johnny and as u saw on the post it was a completely different object .
