Ranting about Reporting

Other

Don’t you just hate it when you get a string of notifications saying ‘someone has reported your deal as expired’ but they’re around 4 months old 😡😩

Like, common sense tells you that it was a long time ago, & that deal is obviously still not around now. Literally 99% of deals do not mention expiry dates, eg something from Tesco Direct, Argos, Currys, etc. So when posting deals regularly & constantly, we won’t remember to go back & check every deal & expire them, as for those who have posted 1000’s of deals, it would be impossible. I think people are just greedy for points lol. Is it just me or is there anyone who hates this? I understand the need to expire a deal which is a few days or hours old, but some people scroll back & back just to get the points for reporting as expired 🙄😩😏

Also when someone expires a post which is clearly not expired (they got their points ergh 🙄) OR when someone expires your post so they can post it again, because there’s been a slight price change & it’s been lowered by £1 or so. Common courtesy would tell you to leave a message in the comments & inform the person of the new price so they can edit the deal!!! (Okay people, rant over haha) 🙈🙈🙈

😂 🤣 totally agree with you. I am sure the guys will come up with a solution to this. I must say that there are some super cool users who do advise each other and also tag me when they see a price increase or decrease so that both the OP and a mentor knows, so I can then amend it for the OP. That is super helpful and not at all for points sake. I think that's so nice of them! But yes ofcourse cannot comment the same for every user, so I agree with you.

I thought that we did have a system in place Kelsey where a month or was it 2 months old deals expired automatically? I am sure we did a unanimous vote on this long long long time back 🤔

I normally put a comment under the deal/freebie/competition to say it has expired so people know not to apply for it. I understand if it is a freebie that has expired before the expiry date as they have all been claimed and someone expires it, but I don't get why you would go back months. Most people won't be looking at those deals anyway.

I think people who steel deals should be punished. I saw this before with my deals. They were not expired even they are old, just the price changed with 1-2 pounds...I think that also should not be reason to steal the deal...I think some kind of program could track the expired deals...would be great...

Thank you for your feedback. The moderation side of Latest Deals is quite the beast. We’re very fortunate to have a handful of brilliant volunteer Mentors who manually sort through hundreds of reports every day and checking if flagged posts are expired, spam, self-promotion and more.

We did think about auto-expiring old posts e.g. if they’re more than 3 months old, but upon testing the idea discovered a big amount of posts were still valid and working - useful for users who are searching for it.

The community had a discussion a while ago about when it’s OK to re-post a deal: it was decided one month is a good amount of time

If you have any suggestions about how our Moderation systems may be improved, please do shout!

In the meantime, if there is a fellow member who is frustrating you, you can use our “ignore“ function.

Go to their Profile page and press “ignore”. You will no longer see their comments, or be notified of them.

You can also tag any of the Mentors and myself to an argument - which shall be deleted if it is not constructive.

Thanks again and I hope you continue to enjoy Latest Deals
