Real or Fake Christmas Tree?
Ask a Question
Do you think fake Christmas trees are better than real ones?
With the holidays approaching, many are debating whether to go for a low-maintenance artificial tree or stick with the traditional real one for that authentic festive scent.
What’s your preference?
Leannexxx I bought a real one a couple of years ago and it dropped so many needles - I don't think they cope well in heated homes! I kept it well watered too.
I’ve got a fake one, snow effect. Can’t be doing with real trees just too much hassle in terms of the mess etc, at least with fake just box it back up and in the shed it goes
KateGriff169 I will add to that though my sons (who are older now) they’ve always said they prefer the fibre optic trees
I grew up with real ones. Dad used to really look after them with proper compost and watered it to keep it nice. After Christmas you have the hassle of disposal as well and seems a shame to shred it up but probably goes into mulch or something. Since being married I have just had artificial as it’s more convenient. Mind you had it for 20 years now and a bit tatty!
Fake. Mine is a woolies one. Got it in the closing down sale years ago. It's black and love it
I personally prefer a real tree but have a fake one cause it’s just way more convenient and cheaper in the long run
I like real trees but I don't think they are suited to centrally heated homes so we always have an artificial one.
We have a fake indoors and a real one outside that has been growing for a few years. It’s at the end of our road so once decorated looks really good.
eyeballkerry We planted a Christmas tree and had it for years in my parents garden. Just be careful because eventually it got so tall! They are forest trees. Had to be cut down in the end as just got too big, bushy as well.
JLouM Ours is one of our front gardens away from the home. There used to be another tree there when we moved in. Much bigger. We took that one out. Our only issue is trying to get the star on top. The picture shows the tree a few years ago. I will add an up to date one.
eyeballkerry I really love the snowman colourful candy canes and Christmas tree too!
We have a fake one. Much cheaper as it can be used year after year. Don't like real trees, too much mess and don't like the smell.
I love the idea of a real Christmas tree but fake is so much easier and it doesn't matter when you put it up as it won't deteriorate.
I love a real tree but I suppose fake ones are more manageable overall.I love the smell of fresh pine.
We always have an artificial Xmas tree but it is lovely, very good quality so looks amazing.
We use to have real ones, but changed years ago to artificial after one of our dogs got a pine needle stuck on his paw, it got infected and ended up costing a fortune at vets
martinlufc5637 ...Poor dog, just had an infected leg after knocking it at work = £20 in 2 prescriptions bar 40p..
I hope you were insured...
We have an artificial tree that fits together, real Christmas trees are lovely but far too messy with all those dropped needles. we had a real Christmas tree years ago but didn't like the cleaning operation afterwards!!
I got rid of our artificial one last year so been searching, the pictures are different to reality so searching for ones with reviews and personal photos. I was kinda getting used to the idea that I’d get a real one this year and kinda gutted as pick up an artificial tree order so fingers crossed it’s decent otherwise I give up.
I love the smell of a real tree. But we have to weigh are trees down because of the cats. We can’t have a real tree anymore because of this
Growing up in my mum and Dad's I loved having real trees because of the smell. But now that I have my own house, I prefer fake as I can not be bothered with mess. Hats off to my mum though!
