Would You Recommend a Washer, Dryer?

Currently we have a separate washing machine and tumble dryer, but due to space restraints the tumble dryer is under the stairs. Ideally would like to free up that space.
About 30 years ago we had a combined washer dryer, but felt the dryer wasn't that good. Have they come on since then?
beccatavender well I must admit mine was decades ago so they may have. But you can never really do a whole load of wash in one dry. A normal dryer drum is twice the size of a washing machine drum.
Personally I wouldn't have a combined, what if one part breaks down, it's a whole new machine, you can't wash and dry at the same time - would take me ages to do washing.
There was a thread like this on Facebook recently and I'd say 98% of people said no.
I had a very expensive LG washer / dryer years ago & hated it. I had endless repair problems with it. Eventually Currys offered us a replacement & we went for separate machines again. I'd never consider a combi again.
