Do You Remember the Catch Phrase " on the Comittee" ?
Ask a Question
Some one tonight was talking about being on the social club committee on various positions, I said "On the Committee" - for those of you who are too young this is a catch phrase for a 70s comedy called On No it's Selwyn Froggitt
Loved Selwyn Froggitt. Such a mischievous character. Still picture the opening titles, where he throws yet another parking ticket on his dashboard. A classic program never since repeated.
My favourites were from hylda baker in 'nearest and dearest as nellie pledge ', 'she knows Y'er know' and 'You big girl's blouse' and ' I must get a little hand put on this watch' and “I can say that without fear of contraception” and “You haven't had the pleasure of me yet”.
And this one from Eli Pledge to nellie 'You knock-kneed knackered old nose-bag!
You can't beat the old ones
That's made me , it's surprising how the mind works, I hadn't thought of Selwin Fogitt ever before until someone mentioned how many roles he had filled in his social club, used to be the working man's club.
I think you have to be at least in your 50s as it was on TV in the 70s & I have never seen it repeated
