Should remote workers earn more?

Others argue remote workers deserve higher pay to cover electricity and heating costs
No those working from home now to choose to. They are already saving instead of commuting to the office.
Pretty sure you could heat dozens of homes for the price of one person's commute ? Firms are now realising that their employees do not develop their potential when WFH . The reason being they do not get to share ideas , give and get advice on an informal face to face basis . OK it was necessary during the pandemic but most major firms now insist on staff being at the office if only for 2 or 3 days a week .
Well you do get a tax refund for working remotely, i believe, but it obviously wouldn’t really cover the cost of heating and electricity.
I don’t think remote workers should be paid more, unless it is enforced on them. They may lose money in some ways but also they gain time as they have zero commute, they also wouldn’t have wear & tear/mileage on their vehicle or have to pay to use public transportation
jms19 there was small tax refund for a couple of years due to covid, but it was only temporary. I find the reduction in travel cost balances out the increased bills at home so dont think we deserve to be paid more just for that. Many workers now have a mixture of wfh and office work which can work very well. We get plenty of team interaction, the employer saves in office costs.
didbygraham ah ok my mistake. I suppose it’s going to depend on each persons individual situation really and i certainly wouldn’t complain if a raise was offered to me, even though i don’t work in a job where this applies.

Definitely not. Wanting electricity and heating costs is a joke especially if you’re choosing to work from home
xKJG93 Plus they don't have to pay travel costs of getting to work so they are making a saving there!
I suppose you pay more on heating and less on travel so it's even stevens in a way.I think you agree to a salary and that's that.
Well if you choose to work from home, then that's on you, they are already saving money, not travelling ect...
I'd love to work from home it would be lovely. The whole running around trying to get to work is stressful. Less germs as well.
