Very surprised about this one, as they have been doing well commercially. Obviously, their accounts are not in order It’s certainly getting harder for businesses to stay in business

That is a surprise. I don't shop there, too expensive, but I thought it was a popular brand with the upper middle classes. Lots of comps I've seen involving Orla Kiely and in surveys that name comes up. My mum still has old towels with the designs on that she keeps for DIY and things like that.

Yes I was surprised too, as they seem quite popular, and they have a variety of homeware that are easy to give as gifts, albeit pricey

Her designs remind me to 80's. I think she did not make anything unique. That time we had no choice and no we do not want those ugly colors and patterns.

Her designs are based on retro 70s prints, which I guess has had its time. There are indeed more exciting designs out there, modernised and cheaper too

I found her stuff far too expensive! Whilst it was retro, I only ever liked a few of her designs and certainly wouldn't pay the price for them.

yes, definitely overpriced and overused. It isn't flattering to dress in her patterns when the exact print is then used for her wall papers, tea towels and garden hoe handles! But I am very surprised she shut so suddenly - definitely dome dodgy doings going on

I liked some of her house stuff, never actually saw any of her clothes to be honest, but yeah you don't want to be matching your tea towels!

MrsCraig tbh I only really saw her clothing lines in drips and drabs in Tk maxx - a sure sign she wasn’t not doing well, I guess

Not surprised - she over used her patterns - who wants a dress in the same print as your neighbours tea towel!

definitely would be a fashion faux pax if you turn up to a house party in an orla kiely dress, and then you find you match the curtains and wall paper! lol ☺️
