Another round of website updates (shiny images!)

Hey guys!

Time for another website update. This one won’t be quite so rambling (promise!) as its just one key feature a lot of you have been asking for…

You can now upload images to comments! Woohoo!!!

By clicking the camera icon below the comment box you can select a photo from your phone/computer and upload it. After a few cogs have turned it’ll automatically include a link to the image in the comment. Then, when you post the comment, it’ll covert the link into an image. Simples!

Turns out I lied about rambling as we’ve also made a few other, perhaps less noticeable, changes:

• If you link to an image in the old way (by just pasting in the image’s URL) we’ll now go off and fetch the image and upload it to LD’s servers. This means that we should no longer have images disappear (because the original host of the image took it down) and everything should load faster - because LD’s servers are the best
• Because including images is easier now we’ve decided to incorporate in our auto-moderation software that detects if a naughty image is being shared. If you try and upload a naughty image (or what Google thinks is a naughty image) you’ll get a message explaining that we can’t. #soz
• We’ve integrated our internal moderation system with our reporting system so now if one of your posts gets deleted (usually because it was incorrectly detected as inappropriate) we’ll get alerted and be able to fix it super fast (ish).
• There was a bug that stopped images and videos being included in chat topics. This should be fixed now
