Rubbish Skips with Shops

Deals

Many refuse centres or rubbish skips have public shops where you can buy discarded items for cheap.

TVs for £50, bicycles for £20, garden furniture and more. It's a great way to save money and give back to the community:

Usually the money raised is given to local charities.

Which skips have shops?

You can see a manually curated Google Map of which skips have shops here.

Almost all Cambridgeshire waste recycling centres resell useful goods. The only exception seems to be electrical items which I guess could be dangerous i.e. cause shocks or catch fire: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/waste-and-recycling/household-recycling-centres/

Its also worth checking out your local Freecycle group. This is nonprofit organization that aims to reduce items normally going to landfill. The site is completely free to use and all goods listed MUST be exchanged at no cost: https://www.freecycle.org

We have a brilliant one in our local town. It is run by a local charity and you always get great bargains! Loads of stuff for the house and they even do a removal service. So if you are moving home, they help you move or if you are getting rid of furniture, they come and take it away and put it in the shop! It is fantastic, we went there when we bought our first home. Definitely worth seeing if there is one near to you, you can save a fortune!
