Run down Refill Freezer

Ask a Question

At this time of year I let my freezer get a bit emptier so I have space for my frozen Turkey when they get cheap but now with wave 2 of panicked buying (bet some of them still got stuff from wave 1) I'm not sure. What is best?

What do you think of this?

It’s a good idea to defrost your freezer which I do annually but always restock once it’s running okay. I wouldn’t wait for a turkey offer instead I would buy a decent meat joint on offer. I’m the only one who insists on having turkey for Christmas lunch and do a beef joint for the rest.

If everyone carried on as normal with their shopping we will all be ok but you get the idiots buying up essential, such a selfish attitude. I’m sure a lot of us could survive quite a while on what’s in our cupboards. Go ahead and make room for that turkey. We all need to start looking forward to a different way to spend Christmas. Some of us may even enjoy a quieter Christmas.

Think I will we get a crown anyway so not too big. We will still have plenty of food with little less in freezer 🥳

I love cooking all the Christmas food long as people stay out of my kitchen

If you have the freezer space it’s worth keeping it topped up, shops will still be open even if we do lockdown again but having a good stock means if you do have to isolate you don’t have to stress about getting food.

I don’t advocate the panic buying but a few extras to pop in the freezer each week gives you peace of mind x

We still have a weekly slot at asda. The big problem seems to be getting pop. 🤔

Supermarkets and other grocers will be more prepared for another spate of panic buying. They will have learnt a lot from the craziness in March and April. They will likely have contingency plans in place and introduce purchase limits on key items. Morrisons have already reintroduced a limit on disinfectant and toilet rolls - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-54283153
