Sainsbury's Named Cheapest Supermarket of 2019 by Which?

which? should know better - they didn’t include Lidl and Aldi, so I can’t take their findings seriously
There's a good reason why Lidl and Aldi were excluded.
They don't sell sell their full range online, unlike the big supermarkets who do.
The Which? survey was an ONLINE pricing comparison.
So even more reason to disregard the findings who buys branded stuff anyway? It’s the biggest con
Surely a joke no way is Sainsbury's the cheapest , just shows how these surveys can be manipulated to read what they want them to.
I agree. Now Sainsburys will be sharing this ‘accolade‘ to promote themselves, which I know a lot of people will be duped by
agreed this is quite a restrictive comparison so there certainly are cheaper places to buy food - but its not all about buying the cheapest food. Being able to get products you actually want from one place is important to me which is why I stick to either Tesco or sainsburys for my main shop. I usually use Tesco as I have the delivery saver there - but they seem to be cutting more and more products these days so I might switch back to sainsburys - at least they seem to stock up well. I live within walking distance of Asda which I use for top up shops - but they seem to have a policy of not restocking their shelves - so many products not available when you shop there is become a bit of a joke
I understand that Lidl and Aldi where excluded because they don't sell a full range of goods, but then that would be like me going to Sainsbury's and asking for a lidl or aldi product that they don't sell. Seems unfair to me.
I don't trust Which? anymore. They nearly ruined a small family baby business because they said the product was unsafe, when in fact Which had tested them incorrectly. The product was reheated by the most reputable testing company in the uk and found to be safe. The company went to the papers to prove that their product was safe and had photo evidence to show that Which had tested them improperly. Which refused to issue a retraction. I have taken all of their findings with a pinch of salt since then.
Yes I find them to be a tad dishonest myself, or rather they skew the truth. Not sure what happened with the company, but they’re definitely not reliable/reputable as they used to be
Hi I do my shopping from Sainsbury’s I think they are same like Tesco & Asda people must be thinking but it’s true no difference one thing I noticed when Tesco weekly offers end Asda offers start same with Sainsbury’
I'm not super keen on Sainsburys even for online shops, I find their prices overall higher and their reward scheme 'nectar' is rubbish. Tesco for me have a wider range of low price options do many half price or BOGOF offers and have a better range. It may be true that for branded goods on average Sainsburys are cheaper but even then I have my doubts but a typical shop for me at Tesco will be the high value items, stockwell, ms molly etc plus offers plus one or two branded products. For example stockwell diet lemonade is 17p at Tesco but I've a feeling its at least 30p or much more at Sainsburys, Stockwell gravy granules are something like 25p at Tesco but I dread to think what price in Sainsburys probably 70p or more for their own brand. I just find Tesco the best option for range, quality and value.
I still shop in Sainsburys but its only occasional normally when I have a voucher to use.
I find that sainsburys are one of the more expensive shops around, so not sure by this. It certainly wont make me shop with them more
I have a Sainsburys, Morrison’s and Tesco fairly close to me that I can choose from, and I would say that Sainsburys are the worst for deals! And the most expensive in general. I much prefer Tesco
Sainsbury being the cheapest for food is certainly not my experience, I find Tesco is best value. If we were talking supermarket clothing than Sainsburys TU range might win. They always have some lovely bits.
