Samoas Outgoing Prime Minister Locks Incoming PM out of Parliament.
In the News
Samoa’s first female PM, Ms. Mata’afa, had to be sworn in in a makeshift ceremony held inside a tent. The previous head of state had been in power for 22years and refused to accept the results of recent elections.
Ms. Mata’afa has pledged to cancel a $100m Chinese-backed port development, stating it excessive for this small island which is already heavily indebted to China.
Common sense seems to be prevailing. Perhaps more countries should be cancelling excessive contracts.
