I'm curios, when you guys are trying to save up money, how do you stop yourself spending the money?

I use a app called chip where each week a AI automatically takes money it thinks I can afford that month after paying bills from my bank in to a chip account.

On payday, I write down how much income I have and take away all of the outgoings for the month.. whatever round number is left over (e.g. £50, £100), I put straight into savings. I don’t ever touch the savings except in the case of emergency, my car needing fixed, a large necessary purchase etc 😊 I’m an expert saver - I’ve worked part time all my life and at 25 I own my own house (by myself) and have paid off half the mortgage

Well done you that is a great achievement. So many young people are rubbish with money and it has a lot to do with parents never teaching them it's value or making them earn money for extras they want.

Put it into a separate account that you don't have a debit card for and that way you can't access it.

I have always been good with money. After early dabbles with buying on tick or credit I quickly decided I hated the feeling of being in debt. My monthly income has all direct debits deducted and the balance divided by 4 so I have the same amount each week until next payday. Anything left is saved. I even do it on holiday. Divide the spends between the days I am away. If I spend less on one day I can add to next. That way I always have money. It backfires at airport home though as we all pool our money for final treats or meal and mine is always biggest share!

Revolut is nice for this purpose you can create vaults and move money for different goals/expenses.

I made every mandatory spending coming out first thing when I get my wages. Other than that I track every receipt/purchase made.

For instance this month I'm at 305pounds spent on food/takeaway/random purchases

I find it really easy to save money, I have everything I need and probably too much. I fix things if broken if I can. I up cycle other items. Apart from everyday bills and food I have not purchased anything in lockdown.
