Sweaty betty competition is a scam . I received a message on Facebook saying I'd won the £200 bundle however I needed to push a link she sent to register the win. I was directed to a scam site and am now in a contract I have no chance of getting out of. My own fault in hindsight their was signs. But the excitement of thinking I'd won over sense. Thought I'd warn people. I've learnt a lesson and will be much more savvy in the future.
I don't know what to say.
Surely you knew that it was a con?
By the way, I have been eating Roast beef and horseradish crisps today.
I'm not sure whether my input will help, but you need to be vigilant.
That happens a lot on Facebook comps.Look at their page before you reply to them,it's obvious when they're fake.Unless you've sent them any money or your bank details,you are not committed to anything.
sorry to hear you were tricked. Facebook has been full of fake profiles telling compers they have won this year. I've reported a lot now to the companies who are actually giving away the prize and to facebook. No idea if facebook take action. At the moment I'm not entering facebook competitions as I don't think these are fair as how do they pick the winners? Also I know there are lots of fake profiles about. If there is money involved your bank should be able to stop any direct debit and get the money back for you as mine did this when a magazine company rolled a subscription over without asking me if I wanted to continue and in fact, I found out they had done this when I rang them to say I know my subscription is coming to an end and I don't want it no more. they said tough too late it has been rolled over for another year and I was going to have to pay. No I didn't!
I gave them my bank details. Phoned the bank and so far they seem like their going to help. I'm stuck with the subscription because the site doesnt exist so I cant make contact.
Ritaskita if you can cancel your card and get a new one send out to you,that normally stops them taking money off your card x
Unfortunately, it is very easy to set up a fake company page on Facebook and then lure people to like and interact with that said page. A couple of tips to remember; look at when the page was created, if it was created recently then high chances are it's a scam, and if it is genuine then it will have that blue tick sign next to its profile picture.
They are getting smarter and using companies logos,etc,I had a few from paypal and tv licence asking for details,best to contact the company or check online,don't click on links unless you are sure,at least your bank is aware x
Competition wins should never ask for your bank details, unless it is for a cash prize, and even then you probably shouldn't give them over. I have been comping for 5 years and have won lots of comps over the years from lots of different places and plenty of fb ones. Not once have I been asked for my bank details. I am always super careful when entering comps and if it looks dodgy then I don't enter. You will definitely be extra careful in the future from now on. Glad your bank is willing to help. Someone tried to scam me recently on an item I was selling, I caught it was a scam straight away, but some of them are so clever.
I won a cash prize before and they automatically sent me a cheque as opposed to asking for my bank details. But if I ever win a cash prize again and they were to ask me for my bank details, then I shall indeed ask them to send me a cheque instead. You can't ever be too careful. x

Pretty much everytime I enter a Facebook comp recently I get a message from some fake page saying I've won something,it's a real problem and Facebook need to address it.
I rearly even look on Facebook except for patents group for my sons school so much rubbish on there
