Scam Sky Call Warning
Other
Peeps. Just to warn. Just Had a call on mobile from this number claiming to be sky and asked me to confirm my details. I said no. You confirm yours. Which he couldn’t as he would need mine. Said no thanks as not down for marketing calls from sky. So after that I have Called sky and they confirmed to me that they haven’t and wouldn’t call. So if you are with sky and worried for the scamming or your family members. Tell them to block this number : 0800 802 1824. Also on “who called me” website to confirm also. But just as it happened there thought best to alert. They might be busy and on the ‘rounds’. Take care.
On Android phones (maybe iOS too), install "Stop Call Me" or "Truecaller" and it should take care of the issue. I've got a private number that keeps calling me, and it always gets blocked via "Stop Call Me." I'll eventually pick and talk to him if he doesn't stop calling.
Yeah I did have that enabled for only when it was known contacts. But the day I had missed calls from unknown number and because it was police and they don’t leave voicemails it put me off going forward.
Thanks for the warning as I am on sky. They talked about it on Loose Women today and it seems these scammers are trying every avenue including Royal Mail and HMRC etc.
Yes I had a text today from "Hermes" saying I had to pay a fee of £1.45 before they could deliver an item . Very topical really as many imported items post Brexit require duties to be paid to the carrier .
Apparently this is a route into another scam where after having obtained your bank details this way they can attempt the "your account has been compromised " scam.
Didn't click the link, just reported it so I don't know how good the fake "website" was . Ridiculous how much you have to be on your guard these days .
We had text saying there from sky that we haven't paid are bill and click the link and pay it
PhilipMarc no sky have never been intouch over are bill we have it on are box just put a code in and its there
You would think this day in age they will be able to catch these people it's a disgrace people getting away with it and that's the way crime is going.
Had three phone calls today , different numbers but starting with code00312, which does not exist according to bt, recorded saying something about Amazon prime...
Sarahvwomble that's a number from the netherlands if I remember correctly. But lots of scams around amazon phoning saying we have taken payment for prime, if it's an error press one and give us your bank details so we can actually scam you
ch7leach thanks I did wonder where on earth it was coming from, slammed it down without listening to it all
I rejoined sky recently. Then they try to sale you insurance via another company. So they do call you again. More marketing, but I don’t know who called you.
Annoys me when any company calls you as they want you to confirm your i.d.
It’s like you know who I am. You’ve called me.
Then you don’t want to say anything.
rossruby1977 I’ve never been attempted to have sale of insurance from sky in all my years as customer. Also you can opt for zero marketing calls. Which I click. No offers by text. Phone email or post. Nante.
lynneh I have a few times. I’ve left a couple of times when you re join they try to get you to insure the equipment. It’s annoying
lynneh specially now as you can’t keep the equipment. So if it breaks then they will replace it. House hold insurance pays for that. Or they amount you pay over a year you can just buy a new one. It’s a massive con.
I don’t know why I always get the calls.
Went of for ages a few years back. I’ve been with them for over to years or more. Left twice recently went back.
It is tempting to keep them on the line and waste their time and then reveal at the end of a very long call that we don't even have sky.....
Do people not wait until the phone call has stopped then google the number and call back if needed?
Hmm. Not necessarily no. If it’s missed yes will google it. But good to answer the mobs and put them thru their paces also!
