The scheme aims to help prevent children missing school if they don't have access to products at home
it has always bugged me that products can cost so much, especially as they add VAT to the products
they probably ought to make shaving products free also, as it's not like we choose for the hair to sprout. Most schools might even penalise students who dont groom themselves
That’s true. There are some schools who have rules on hair lengths and styles, especially those that have uniforms
couldnt agree more hspexy its a basic human need for women which is why I always put in menstrual products for the food banks. I hope they promote menstrual cups which are non toxic and environmentally friendly.
I think it’s a good thing. There are a lot of young girls that won’t be bought them and they can’t buy them themselves if they don’t have money
This should of been done years ago. Im glad school are offering free sanitary products but again this shouldve started years ago.
I can remember when I was in college they had pads there that you could buy. But a single pad would cost you more than a pack. I use to always have a pack in my bag in case but it use to make me think about others who can't afford it
The girl that set this up ia brilliant, no girl or woman should have to suffer period poverty. The fact they are seen as luxury and not a necessity is wrong
I remember when I was in secondary school, 3 of my friends asked me for a pad as they had started their period early and didn't have anything with them and I was known for always having pads in my bag. I was at work 3 years ago and my colleague asked me for a tampon. I'm a teacher and I've seen how it can affect girls when this happens, so I'm really pleased this has been set up.
It's a good thing that this is available but it's also sad that the parents are spending money that is not there's really child benifits is enough to cover personal hygiene products for son or daughter they pound a pack even cheaper for shop brand I think it's time that vouchers are given for these items instead most spend it on them self
I know teachers that have a supply at school for those in need. Teachers seem to pay a lot out of their own pocket where the schools/government should be paying.
Coming from Africa none of this is available. All the products are imported and 1000x the price so completely unaffordable. I don't know how the women cope but they do and no school is missed.
yeah i agree some are expencive however i didnt get eny free from school when i was younger at same time i dont begrudge eny person who needs them some chairtys in my area offer them free
I'm glad they are starting to so this but I hope they do thins in every school and across the country. They should have started with this to be honest and not just to do it now.
I hope so too. If they’re able to hand out free condoms, I’m sure sanitary items can be handed out for free also
When i was in school i remember the school nurse had a stash in her cupboard just incase but you had to knock and ask. Making them available for all pupils is a fab idea.
