Scintillating Scotoma

The last few years I have started to encounter Scintillating Scotoma. Sounds fancy doesn't it lol? I was rather taken aback on my first encounter because I thought someone had dropped something in my tea. I looked it up and found out what it was. No headache with me but just 20 mins of weird and always unannounced. Does anyone else have experience of this or know about it?
I suffer from this but used to get a migraine with it but now I am older i don’t get a migraine with it and if I catch it straight away and take two paracetamol and drink a pint of water then how and lie down in a dark room it goes away after about 30mins and they turn up unannounced
Thanks Tara.Yes comes from outta nowhere and hits unpredictably at anytime.Sometimes months apart,sometimes weeks and sometimes days.I thought it was spices or stress or even plants cos I do lots of gardening but I have been unable to identify a specific trigger. I drink loads of water as well and just allow it to run it's course which takes about 20-30 mins.Not life threatening I know but quite invasive at times albeit I don't mind the floor show .Life in technicolour don't need any hippy drugs in here lol.
MelissaLee1963 yea I thought the same as you and tried to figure out what caused them, and eliminated things like coffee chocolate stress and strong smells I even thought I might have been dehydrated but it’s not that so I still can’t find what triggers it so unfortunately like you I have just got to let it run it’s course, the floor show is like some one has slipped you some hippy drugs lol which is invasive and it’s hard when you’re trying to explain to people who don’t suffer from it

I have suffered from this for forty years. I have tried to find out what triggers it by cutting out foods. I can be lack of food, stress or sometimes just no reason.
Yes I fancy there may be more of us. Just doesn't seem to very well publicised.I'm 50 plus and had never heard of it before i suddenly encountered it.It was unannounced and rather strange.I know what to expect now but it's still strange.Glad I dont drive a car!

I get weird vision where it's kind of looking though a wavy kaleidoscope. No pain involved.
Optician said that it was probably an ocular migraine, but it seems that that only happens in one eye, whereas it happens in both with me.
After just reading up about this on Wikipedia, I think that I might have a chat with my GP/optician to see if I may have it
Sounds like you might have this as well.I had migraines as a teenager but outgrew them. Like migraine disturbance but technicolour fractals like taking Lsd or some such!
Yes.I'm just getting going it seems becasuse they are becoming more frequent.Your daughter gets them as well? Might be a genetic factor or a shared dietary something perhaps.
