Scotch or Irish Whiskey?
Ask a Question
I love whisky and whiskey and I can t deny how much I prefer single malt scotch whisky.
I had chance to try some really great and outstanding Irish too, but I would love to hear your opinion on what you prefer and which one too.
My favourites are mostly in the Speyside.
Thanks
I’m a scotch whiskey fan, such as Glenfiddich. Can’t say I’ve tried many Irish whiskies, but I’m happy to be introduced to some
I'll go for Irish every time over Scotch.
I was lucky enough to do a tour of the Jameson's Distillery when visiting Dublin a few years back, since then I've been hooked.
I prefer Irish too, I also did the Jameson's tour and did the tasting thing at the end of the tour where you tasted different whiskeys from around the world. Cant remember much after that. My excuse was that we'd done the Guinness tour beforehand it was a great day
neo1 Exactly the same experience here, When I did it I got around a pint and a half of Guinness on that tour.
Then as I remember it was 3 different shots of Whiskey from around the world, one of which I believe was Jack Daniels.
Then you get a measure of Jameson's at the end.
When I lurched out afterwards I was feeling no pain.

Jameson whiskey is my favourite, so I'd have to go with Irish. There are others I like, but this one is the one I always go back to.
Irish for me.
The first thing that I ever spewed on was The Famous Grouse, so I can't drink any Scotch.
It's Bushmills or Paddy for me, but I will drink Bourbon like JD (which is overpriced).
My husband is a single malt whiskey drinker, over the years I have bought him various whiskey including from Wales and Japan and he has a Swedish whisky on his list.
He likes all whisky, especially peaty ones.
Whilst I buy the majority of whisky that comes into the house, I love the smell of a good malt whisky but not the taste
Last year for a Advent Calendar I put together a tipsy tree of 24 whisky miniatures for him and there wasn't one he didn't like. So in December he discovered whisky O'clock
I like Macallan and Ardbeg, but happy to try any. I also like a lot of the Japanese whisky, such as Nikka Yoichi and Hibiki.
