Secret Santa at Your Workplace?
Ask a Question
Do any of you do secret santa at work? What has been your best present to give or receive?
why dont you start one set a smallish budget stick some names in a hat and go for it- the fun is trying to get a cracking present within the budget and who doesnt love an extra gift
Ive done it in previous places and its good fun if people don't ask who you have or try to swap. I usually get a gift set and some chocolate or if this particular person like something like flamingos I'll theme it. We've done silly ones too where i got something rude
its a lovely thing to do as long as everyone enters into it- I usually get people amazing things I once got for example A designer perfume bundle mini sized but with full size body lotion and hair spritz, a benefit bundle and a clarins bundle all Β£10! In return I got a wine stopper and pencil sharpener Christmas cracker worthy Bless em but there was no thought in that......
OneeyedRaven its great when you really know the person, but some people dont put any thought into it
Last year when buyagift had Β£15 off with no minimum spend - I got something for Β£1. I got them other stuff too - they definitely got the best gifts. It helps being on deal sites!
thats blinkin amazing I have made some great savings this year but no real OMG wow purchases- well none that have been honoured anyways
OneeyedRaven yeah it was. My gift to them was almost embarrassingly good I pride myself on buying good gifts and getting them at good prices though! Not many others seem to unfortunately.
MeestairChrees hahhaha yup I know exactly what you mean I try not to feel disappointed opening mine most years when I was in paid work- working free this year so not been included its just the contracted staff
OneeyedRaven that's a shame. We have an agency worker with us at the moment. We're not doing Secret Santa this year but if we were, we'd have included them if they wanted. I guess it depends how well you all know each other though.
I was in the secret Santa for fat club and the presents were all for under Β£5 so they were never anything to out-do others. One year I received smellies the next year kitchen scales
My sister gave a gift of batteries with a note gift not included I thought it was a rather funny gift
sometimes its those ones that we enjoy most, and batteries are always needed around christmas
We do it yearly its great however if you get someone tou dont really know it can be wuite hard however we write down some ideas of what we want and stick it on the wall to help
We did a secret santa at my last work place and I got a lovely yankee candle gift set. We did it within our department and we knew each other really well, so we all got something we liked. We didn't place a price on it but said no more than Β£15 so that no one went overboard.
MrsCraig It really is the thought that counts. One year the BIG boss joined in - think devil wears prada but with more sadistic tendencies and a love of chucking things at you. We were all really nervous about getting them and joked we would be getting a work christmas day for life contract. I was extra nervous as I could tell the Boss didnt like me in particular. Office gossip and turns out they picked me. My gift was a DVD which sounds lame but was a DVD I watched growing up everytime I was 'released' from Hospital- a mini celebration to keep my chin up, and had mentioned it in an off the cuff comment at a team meeting many month before. I genuinely got a little teary and changed my view of them.
OneeyedRaven I agree, I think it is nice whenever someone spends their hard earned money on you, no matter how much they spent.
Aww that is such a lovely present and shows that they listen and pay attention.
We did it in my work place it worked well. I can remember doing it in college, didn't get anything. The person had forgot about the secret Santa.
My work did Secret Santa this afternoon, i received a cute pair of woollen mittens (I love mittens) and a lovely note. It was a Β£5 recommended gift so no one has too much pressure to buy a more expensive gift.
I am doing one this year with a Β£10 spend but I normally just end up buying a gift set of some sort, Iβm useless! Last year I got a bubble gum machine with bubble gum which I was over the moon with I gave it straight to my nephew lol x
hahhaha what a great gift bet he loved it and you get cool auntie credits Some nice gift sets around this year............
