Thinking about this increasingly more as the days progress. I hate stalking about in the heat and lap pcs are all engulfing at times but sitting about on our botties too much is a serious invitation for coronary disease as well as obesity and untold other illnesses so I'm off for a walk much I don't feel like one. How is everyone else faring these days?
Thats why its a good idea to have a dog M
Even if you dont want to walk you feel compelled to , especially if he or she looks at you with those pleading eyes , benefitting you both healthwise
telmel Indeed, having a dog gets you out, like it or not.
In these hot times, mine go out in the evening, and usually in the local woods were it's cool.
MelissaLee1963 She is teetotal m, she doesn't need the hair of the dog, she has enough of her own
telmel Cat just eats grass and vomits hair balls on the lawn .Otherwise a beautiful creature lol.
I've got into a fairly regular routine of taking a 20 to 30 minute walk in our local park just since lockdown.
I am even loathed to admit I invested in a smart swatch to check how I do each day.
I was previously against them as I thought they were just a gimmicky thing that would go out of fashion how wrong I was lol.
I find tracking how much I do everyday very motivating.
Honestly I try and do at least 20000 steps a day and I do it so might but my goal higher and I've lost 2 stone in 6 months
My fiancé has just bought a standing desk as they say sitting down is unhealthy. I’d only heard of the company he found from Latest Deals so we knew it was legit.
Covid just through me off routine gained alot of weight still randomly feel weak and tired even if i havent done anything time seems to be passing by quick whilst i feel like im stood sort of in a dream when your trying to run away from something or someone and ur body just doesnt react with the brain
matumkokehte123 Yes I get that.Trying to break from similar feelings at times.I made my mind up today to do something rather than nothing even if I have to build slowly.
Exercise makes total sense but I think obesity is more about our diet than lack of exercise. You might be able to increase the amount of calories your body uses a day by 20% through exercise but there isn't much point if you have 100% more calories per day than your body needs. 80-90% of weight loss is down to the food. Walking is great moderate exercise but its not a high fat burning exercise. It's not about just sitting down its about sitting down with a big bowl of Doritos in front of the telly. The reason so many people are thin in Africa is not a punishing exercise regime.
I personally would say the line 'you are fat because you sit down too much' is a false statement that distracts from the truth somewhat.
BonzoBanana Yes. Eat less /Exercise more. Simple in theory .Just putting it into practise. I loves my grub too much but I need to take charge of me lol.
I am pretty active. Always chasing after my son or the dog, I do a lot of housework, walk my son to nursery, always up and down our stairs. I enjoy going for long walks when I have the time.
In terms of obesity it is too much food that is an issue. You can exercise for ages but if you are eating more food than you are burning off you will put on weight. You need to eat less and exercise more.
Driving is a big issue I think. Sadly people think it's 2 minutes in the car so wont harm but that 2 minutes would be a 20 minute walk and they do it all the time. We walk to and from school and live up quite a steep hill, I don't see many over weight parents walking the school run.
I have just come back from a cruise on a really big ship. Although there were plenty of lifts there was also lots of walking involved. On the second night I had dreadful leg cramps and after a few days I ached all over from the physical activity. It wasn't until the last day that I loosened up and came home determined to do more exercise. My sedentary lifestyle began with lockdown but this was a real wake up call. However, on the evening of my first day home I began to feel unwell and next day tested positive for covid, exercise will have to wait until I feel better!
Lynibis Aches and pains probably linked into the covid so hopefully should ease off.Hope you had a great time anyway.
