Seems Lockdown Could Be Easing "Gradually" in Two or Three Weeks ?

In the News

As we know many will observe the rules as they are set out 😊. Yet many Covidiots will do as they please (with various excuses )- Sorry being terminally stupid is NOT an excuse !

We have all suffered to various degrees to get to this promising stage . Sorry I am not going to stand by and let all our efforts come to nothing thanks to a minority of selfish brain dead idiots .

To be fair it's not too bad round here but I will have no compunction whatsoever in reporting (dobbing in ) anyone one I see blatantly flaunting whatever rules are in place .

We have all got through this in the main by dreaming of a less restrictive Spring / Summer (I know I have ) . I will not let a few idiots ruin my dream.

So if any idiots are thinking of letting rip when the restrictions are eased , my advice to them is be very very careful . The population will not tolerate your mindless idiocy again this year .

You would have thought that by now even the most rebellious or most stupid must have realised that what each and every one of us does effects everyone .

You can blame whoever you want , the government , the scientists , the Chinese etc ,etc but at the end of the day it is our own actions that will decide the course of the pandemic . We have ample information lets just do as we're told ! I know the overgrown children don't like to do as they are told (as we see nightly on the news ) -Tough ! just obey the rules as and when they are set out or contribute in fines .

The population has had a long hard winter to contemplate and understand how this thing spreads ! No excuses left now! I want my Spring and Summer and if anyone tries to take that away from me they can expect to be informed on .

That's a total change from my normal "laissez faire " attitude , but sorry I can no longer tolerate selfish brain dead idiots and I hope they get the message that very few amongst our population will stand for their idiocy either .

Golfforall so true but has you said grown adults can’t obey by rules, and as they say monkey see monkey do so their kids will follow. Enough is enough now this second lockdown has definitely been the hardest am normally a tough cookie but I do miss the routine of school walk seeing the happy kids faces being back. Talking with neighbours but weather so cold and miserable it’s not helping a lot of people. Like my own space but am so bored with looking at same walls every day I see kids out which as a norm is enjoyable to watch but at moment only making me angry because it’s keeping us in longer

Ann1984 There will always be people who think they know better . Sadly last year we were given advice , even strong advice then rules were brought in but not enforced so the vast majority did as they pleased and continued to do so . As we ease off (not too quickly ) the rules /guidance /laws whatever must be strictly enforced otherwise we'll be back at square one again .

I will try to be diplomatic with my answer . Only the most insane idiot would ease up when we have the Kent variant, the South african variant, the Chinese variant and knowing our borders the Martian variant as well in full circulisation . We tried the moronic opening up the holidays because people needed holidays when we all know it wasnt safe and we get told on a hourly basis how contagious this disease is. Why in god names can we not just wait till the country if people choose to have the vaccine then this will be the best route out and 1 thing this country has done excellently is the vaccine administration .

I see where you are coming from and understand it to a certain extent . However give it a few minutes intelligent thought .

How long will it be until it's safe ? Probably next year ? Are you going to keep everyone locked down and the kids out of education till then ?

I'm afraid it's a question of balancing the ever present risks versus the need to give people hope and something to look forward to . Of course the safest way forward would be to continue the restrictions until all are vaccinated (would that be the UK or the whole world ?) .

I'm afraid your use of the words "insane" and "moronic" shows that you have not fully thought it through . Kids have already missed the best part of a years education and social interaction - how much longer would you suggest ? All of us will pay for this for years in increased taxation etc , how much larger would you like the debt to become ?

The scientists and medical people have given advice on the way out of this , the weak link is the population . As we know a significant minority are either too dumb to understand or couldn't give a monkey's . That's why I'm making this point , that we must strictly enforce the restrictions that will inevitably accompany the easing of lockdown .

Whilst I have a little sympathy with your view you must realise it is simply not practical or even acceptable to the population or its health and well being beyond the short term .

What we must do is manage the easing and strictly enforce it .

Golfforall I am total agreement about the children part . I had a son who was utterly stiffed with his gcse last year and I have another son who is at the beginning of the exam journey . I do feel that there is a tipping point where relative safety can be achieved and it will be way before 2022 and yeah I do think we will live with it for many years and probably need to have the jab each year like the flu jab but I will never alter my view that you can never put health behind wealth but your points have really struck a chord as if we truly went down the route of what is a possability I guarantee because of the actions we will be having this conversation again and again .

stuartsmith544 That's why I feel that as we ease as we must (according to what the medical people and scientists advise ) we have to accept that many will not follow the rules unless they are rigorously enforced , and indeed that we all become "snitches" to ensure the rules are applied to all .

Last summer I had no problem playing golf with no touching (apart from the elbow thing ) equally I had no problem in our well run Pub socially distancing etc . Then to watch on the news thousands on Bournemouth beach and various places with no attempt at distancing or student parties , or "raves " etc etc . All against the strong advice given . But the police were virtually powerless all they could do was advise and educate !

This time round we have been advised and educated enough (more than enough !) to stick by the rules or the police must make sure it is very unwise not to .

We really shouldn't need to be told how to minimise the spread of this thing . I listened to the scientists from last March and stated on here many times "treat everyone as infected even yourself and act accordingly " That's how I behaved last year (no great pain) and if we all do so this year we can ease our way out of it .
