Have You Seen Shops Handing out Free Masks to Customers?
Ask a Question
It has became mandatory to wear a mask or face covering when visiting shops, and Morrisons (the one near me) seem to be the only major retailer I have seen that has decided to give out free disposable masks to customers who approach the store entrance without one
Have you seen other retailers handing out masks for free?
I saw the Nike store at Oxford Circus give out disposable masks on Friday. Although, I doubt stores handing them out will be doing it for long. Otherwise, people will simply be going there to get a free mask for the day
True. I’m sure once they feel they’ve spent too much giving out freebies, they will stop, although their approach may welcome more customers rather than turn them away
I went into T K Maxx and they were giving out masks and they had disposable gloves to wear too. As for supermarkets, their health standards are slipping. Some have no hand gel at the store entrance and no toilet roll in the loo.
Had the same in waitrose too - hand sanitiser nozzle was broken and staff were uninterested. Waitrose, of all shops
Sadly I think that many shop staff do see cleaning and hygiene as something that others should do and I think they will all soon get fed up of having to clean things constantly.
tumblespots that’s very true. I was talking to a restaurant manager the other day, and he said he had to spend 3 hours cleaning toilets at the end of the day, which was pants but he knows it has to be done
hspexy It makes the job even harder for them when they have to start that at the end of the day.
tumblespots indeed! But he’s a very good soul for doing it himself - most managers will delegate it to someone else
Ceebers yes definitely, masking up should’ve been one of the first things advised by the government, but they dithered, I suppose they were also worried about lack of supplies. Needless to say, people can be very creative when necessary- have seen all sorts of coverings being used as masks, so it provides me with a chuckle when I’m out and about
That is rather generous of them, considering the mutiny people will have when they stop giving them out for free
My local TKMaxx has been even before they were mandatory. They had good quality gloves and sanitizer too. Very good safety precautions for a post-pandemic world
Have definitely not seen any being handed out for free at my local Asda. But they are happy to promote them at the entrances
