Self Isolate or Go Back to Work?

Other

My household currently have covid, it started off with my sister (symptomatic) on the 14th of Jan, she then began her isolation from there, couple of days later my brother got it but he was for the most of it asymptomatic but now I can hear him coughing more ... Next followed my mum (symptomatic)

I've been continuously self isolating within the house as I didn't belong in the exempt category. I've been testing myself everyday with lateral flow tests... So far I've been negative and have no symptoms.

I've told my employer about the situation and they said to keep self isolating again for each time a new covid case shows.

Today I was filling mums track and trace on her behalf and on there the NHS said I don't need to self isolate all over again for each new case within the household but start from the original date I was given.

I don't know what to do. If I do as the NHS advise then today is my last day of isolation. But it feels wrong to go back in a way, because everybody else are still sick. I've been testing them all everyday to keep track .. and they all still have it.

If you are testing yourself and you have not tested positive than you can go to work it's only if you test positive then you self isolate mad rules I know

PhilipMarc hmm I dunno on that one think if you do them right then there ok I've been doing them daily and had no issues with them and as it stands we don't need to do pcr ones anymore so have to go off the rapid ones

We had three people in our house test positive and my wife and son continued to go to work and school, they never ended up testing positive. Felt like the wrong thing to do, but the rules stated she should not isolate, she would have done if she had a choice.

If you can afford to stay off your work for another few days, then that's what I would do, as you would still be able to leave the house to pick up medicine and go out for essentials, and still be able to look after the family, but it seems like your employer is confused and doesn't understand the rules, you should be allowed to end your isolation period tomorrow unless you have positive lateral flow test result.

Ultimately is down to your employer if they tell you to stay off, but its always worth checking that they are up to date with the rules as they change so often its hard to keep up. I work in an NHS Office - and we dont know what we are supposed to be doing at the moment either! Apparently we will be told next week!
