Are You Sentimental?
Ask a Question
I am just having a clear out to make more room, I not that sentimental so I have no problems with throwing out birthday card (milestone) but my husband has kept his 40, 50, 60 - Ok they are in a box & not taking up much space.
But I said to him you never look at them so what's the point of keeping them.
Do you keep things ?
Yes I am sentimental I have kept my Nana’s buss pass which has her photo on, my mams perfume and other bits of things that I have a sentimental attachment to me
I have kept some sentimental things, some Christmas decorations, my grown up son, made when he was about 2.
Plus I've keep old family photos
I can be sentimental and I do tend to hang on to things. I try not to hoard, and have a little clear out quite regularly, but there are lots of little bits and pieces that I keep for sentimental reasons.
Unfortunately yes, my worst thing to throw out is an item that has eyes. My husband says pull the eyes off then we can throw it away!
Yes I am my uncle died when was 5 and I'm 36 now he brought me a donald duck cuddly toy it's 31 years old. I'm definitely sentimental
I am super sentimental. I have too much to list what I keep... even receipts from special events lol
beccatavender I have a book of them
Both of my nans have/had alzheimers so I always think (not in a negative way) but I may appreciate the little memory prompts later on in life !
beccatavender I just think of it this way... worrying won't stop it from happening if its going to happen. But worrying can impact my time now. So I'd rather live each day focusing on the here and now and the stuff I do have control over
I am sentimental over certain things. I still have a copy of our wedding invites, order of service, place settings and I still have the ones from my MILs wedding. I am sentimental with things for my son. I have his first booties, his first shoes, the first cardigan and blanket his great granny knitted for him, the first babygrow his dad bought him, the outfit we brought him home from the hospital in when he was born and when he had his operation, his name bands etc from the hospital, his 1st birthday cards, his first Scotland and Northern Ireland football strips and other things that are meaningful to us.
I have clear outs regularly and get rid of things but there are some things that need to be kept.
My mum and dad have been married for 47 years and my mum still has their order if service and invitations.
You can get some great memory boxes ideal to keep these precious momentous.
I used to be more sentimental when we had a larger house I kept things, we had been in the same house for over 20 years. But when we downsized I had a big cleared out wedding invites, wedding cards etc. They didn't make them into my packing boxes
beccatavender I've got a memory box for all the wedding invites etc but I need to get one for our sons things. I'm tempted to get a personalised one with his name on it as I will no doubt be adding to it over the years.
Some of my wedding invites etc went into the bin when packing for moving house recently as I realised I had 6 copies of everything and I only need one! So some of it didn't make it into our packing boxes either.
Yeah i am, i keep all my birthday cards each year, i have still got ones from my mum and nanna i was given before they passed away, i also have all my daughter's upto her 21st birthday,
i love keeping thing's,
also my brother was given all my mums mothers day cards when she passed
