What Sets Your Teeth on Edge?

Other

I am not talking OCD here, just those things that make you groan inwardly. Mine is when I see (in real life or on tv) things sitting on a work top that should be in the fridge. I can't believe people are too lazy to return butter, milk, yoghurt etc to the fridge. I also grind my teeth when characters on tv walk through the front door, followed by camera and door is left wide open!

Lol, that's a good one. It is always frustrating watching someone struggle with a task you can do far better but not feeling able to interfere.

People that say 'like' constantly or phrases like 'at the end of the day' we have a cleaner on our business park that every other word is 'yeah' and he doesn't even know he is doing it.

Another is people saying they have flu when they have a common cold, people that have had genuine flu know the difference and yes I know there are different strains of flu, but still grinds my gears.

I could go on for days but I will stick to two - for now

I also really really hate the phrase "back in the day" What day was this? Most people that use this are in their 20's so when was their back in the day? When they were 2?

My teenage son is incapable it seems of closing our kitchen drawers & cupboards after himself. He always leaves them open no matter how often iv told him, I have now reached the conclusion that it continues to purposely drive me crazy!!

People who use the word 'literally' or 'obviously' too much. I find it maddening to listen too.

Going to a public toilet & theres no loo roll 🤬

Oh dear, teen boys, that is a hard one. My oldest suddenly became very tidy after a stint in the RN and the other one used to be a chef so he had to keep things tidy in the kitchen!

People using the word like all the time! It is almost every 2nd word! People not saying thank you when you do something nice, such as holding the door open or moving to the side to let them pass you.

Thinking of your dislike of the work like, I also dislike it when people use 'so' at the beginning of a sentence.

Using the word "like" as a filler word appears to be very common among teenagers especially. How did that start exactly? For example; "I am like really happy right now". As you can see, that statement doesn't even make sense.

RegularComper90 it is really annoying! I have no idea how it started but I teach teenagers and I hear it far too often!

People using the "F" word in every other sentence.

The Oxford English dictionary apparently contains 171,476 words, so there's certainly plenty of other words which can be used.

people leaving lights on........in every room. People running water as they brush their teeth, People who dont rinse the suds off dishes and cups. People putting back a packet or container in the fridge/cupboard empty. Not refilling the kettle. Rude children with parents who just laugh. Not being thanked when letting someone out in traffic.

Your #1 and #2 is what my husband do. I nag a bit but he still does it 😠 he also runs water whilst washing the dishes, leaves the sink to pick up things or to come and have a chat with the water still running. It drives me nuts!

My teenage son comes in from school and dumps his coat bag and shoes on the living room floor. He has to walk past the coat hooks and shoe cupboard to get into the living room. Drives me insane 🤣

I feel as I if I need to bump this thread back up as something happened to me today which really does set my teeth on the very edge.

Why oh why do relatively large groups of people that are coming towards you take up the whole width of the pavement, not giving a single thought to any oncoming pedestrians who want to easily get passed? Just how difficult is it to move over so that pedestrians walking in the opposite direction can get passed easily and safely?

I'm sorry, but I'm not walking in the road.

I must admit I do get narked when I have to step into the road in order to let a much younger group go past.

People on tv house-buying programmes that get in a bath that they don't own with their shoes on!!! They also pick fruit from orchards that they don't own. You wouldn't get inside my front door with your shoes on. 🙄
