Shocked by New Chat Format

Absolutely shocked to find chat has changed and when I clicked thought I had gone elsewhere, looked like a totally different section.
I hate it and hope it's not permanent. I doubt I will use it so much in the new format....sorry.
I'm clearly missing something as it's still in the same place for me. What are you seeing it on - tablet? phone?
angemski and lilyflower I am using my kindle fire as I mostly do and usually it is just topic and all replies beneath. Now the comments are squeezed to the left with a side bar of 'recent news' with pictures and the facility to share at the top on twitter, email, fb etc.
I don't want my comments shared with all and sundry, they are for my virtual friends on here.
Feeling very bewildered and upset about this but others may welcome it. Maybe it is my age and don't like change. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!'
Lynibis I had, until I checked, always thought it was a word that Ken Dodd had invented (he used it a lot) apparently it dates back to the USA over a hundred years ago.
Lynibis You might not realise Lyn that your comments have always been available to "all and sundry" it's just the new format makes it a little easier for someone to share them.
Previously they had to copy the address from the address bar and paste it to the source.
Incidentally whether you see it or not depends on your screen. If my screen is only on 133% magnification I see the new feature, but if I increase the magnification to 150% it disappears.

The easiest way to quickly change magnification is to hold down the CTRL key Then click the minus key - (to decrease) or the plus key +
(to increase).
If using a mouse you can also use the scroll wheel whilst holding down the CTRL key.
Lynibis Hold fire on the thanks. Dennab has been rather busy commenting on your deal today then giving advice on tablets. Rather childish and two-faced. This should've been put to bed on the locked thread but she /he actively sought out the deal and decided to play agitator. Why would you do that? I don't have a problem with members preferring one member to another - that's life - but if you don't like what they have to say or post just scroll on.
angemski I found your ('your' being the collective Latest Deals clique) whole chat topic talking about ex members childish and far worse than the comments on her deal they were based on. That's probably why it was locked! You're now trying to stir again, taking this topic off on a tangent when I'm sure Lynibis has seen my comment already. There are a lot of personal remarks and assumptions in that thread so I advise you to be a little more careful. Who do you think you are? No doubt the rest of your gang will be along shortly to get involved.
angemski I've dealt with people who think they are the internet police before so here's my suggestion: if somebody provides feedback on your 'deals', take it on the chin like a grown up and move on. Stop assuming anybody with an opinion has some kind of personal vendetta against you because for me, that really isn't the case. I couldn't care less who has posted something. If I think it's a load of rubbish, I'll point it out. No swearing, no personal remarks, just honest feedback, alright?
Dennab That is not why it was locked - it was probably locked because at least one exile from HUKD who now has your name (spelt backwards) across his HUKD profile (put there by HUKD) decided to join in.
I should perhaps explain that HUKD are having a bit of a purge and their trolls are coming here.
I personally think you posting a link to a chat topic on deals to alert an obvious troll to it was completely out of order.
I also think you've got your wires crossed you say it was angemski 's topic that was linked to - you need to check again and perhaps apologise to angemski. (and it will be "chocks away" at the pig farm
)

Just to verify, I am now using my main pc in my office and that is also showing the new format but because it is a bigger screen/monitor it does not look quite so bad.
Hey, yes, to clarify, there was a recent update to the Chat section which added a side bar on the right-hand-side to the page.
This is only visible on devices with wide enough screens. If you're reading this on mobile, the side bar moves to the bottom of the page.
This was in keeping with the rest of the site which has side bars of a similar fashion. However, usually, on small-screened devices, the side bar disappears (it moves to the bottom).
The Amazon Fire Tablet is a unique size where it's small-ish, but not quite medium, and so we are reviewing how this may look on that device.
If some members are not seeing this design update, it's probably because either they're reading Chat on the Latest Deals app (which doesn't have this sidebar... yet), reading it on a device with a small screen (in which case the sidebar moves to the bottom), or the website hasn't yet updated for them (and should do soon).
TheChimp Gosh I missed that, we'll have to stop asking him questions. I hope he claims his vouchers!
TheChimp the real question is, does he ever pay himself in vouchers from earning points?
