I can only imagine what the next few weeks will bring. My Sainsbury's shopping is being delivered this evening and they have just informed me that 3 things are unavailable. Toilet rolls, anti-bacterial spray and vitamin c tablets. And I only ordered one of each. If it is this bad already, isn't it time the supermarkets rationed some items?
There's no antibac gel left in any shops, physical or online. Did people actually buy them in bulk?? I only needed the one to give to the hubby who spends 3hrs every day in public transport...
Yes, same here. I am in a vehicle driving children to and fro all day so don't get many chances to wash my hands. However, it was normal surface spray for the kitchen worktop I was trying to order.
I think a lot of people are buying in bulk and then re selling them online for 10x the price!!
gaelle0501 there was someone on Shpock selling the small sanitisers worth around 50p, trying to get Β£5 for them

All ive seen over fb is people saying about shortages and panic buying. My mother in law is a bit strange and she text us at 5 this morning telling us to go out asap and stock up on toilet roll, soap, toiletries etc becahse she thinks theres going to be a lockdown 
apparently she knew this coronavirus was coning because its in the bible 
Well she's right........and a lot more besides! But then again the world has always been full of wars and rumours of wars, pestilence, fire and flood....think about it. Just seems to be escalating at the moment.
No tinned carrots at asda last night. I haven't had to do food shopping whilst I was at my parents, but last night I went food shopping for the first time and there was no toilet rolls, etc. Dad went off and found some toilet rolls at another supermarket this morning and brought them to me.(not sure which he went to). Had to go to tesco as well to try and complete my shop. Tinned goods and cleaning stuff is running short. I know I have lots of bleach in a box somewhere in the garage, but takes time to sort through all the boxes.
Iv been to home bargains today just to pick my normal items up. I was shocked at only 2 kitchen antibacs sprays left on the shelf.
Our local one always like that....not because of the virus, more likely laziness of the staff.
I just find it funny how people have gone mad about hygiene all because of this virus. Shouldn't this be a norm thing to do anyway? I've always tried to stock pile on a few bits whenever I see a good offer but I should be ok for hygiene stuff for a while
It doesnβt take long to empty out the shelves - I didnβt post the topic about bulk buying that long ago, and now all I see are news reports of shelves being emptied out. When one person does it, everyone around them buy into the hysteria. The supermarkets are only out to make money - their rationing intentions will be lax
So true, i saw an online article about the state of the shops in my town. Empty shelves, not only hygiene products but food items too. It showed my Tesco pasta aisle. Dreading my weekly shop tomorrow if people are shopping in bulk.
gaelle0501 Initially I thought things would be fine but this was shared yesterday in a fb group and it's my local Asda! - it would normally be funny, during snowy weather, but it's quite scary that people will stockpile and exacerbating a problem.
We must be lucky in our area, as we've been shopping this morning and found everything we wanted, stocks of certain branded items are low but there seems to be an alternative branded or own brand items available. Saw one woman in Tesco buy 4 jumbo packs 32 rolls per pack of toilet rolls.
good news! I have found my toilet rolls and and more boxes of bleach and pine disfectant in boxes in the garage. I knew I had loads of it. I only wish I had more anti bac wipes and alcohol hand gel.
Lynibis I can't say I did see it. I have limited time to spend at latest deals now as I'm up to ears to boxes due to the house move. newspaper? If all else fails, then we can always use newspaper. 
Yes, I have found mine, plus my dad went out and tracked down a 32 pack for me, so I should be ok.
Seeing China stopped producing a lot of powders for drugs and India has banned the export of Paracetamol and Aciclovir, the prices of Paracetamol have rocketed, Calpol is short in the market and Zovirax cream. This follows what happened to Ibuprofen. The days of 1p paracetamol are well and truely finished
Supermarkets are already rationing stockpile items
Tesco has begun rationing essential food and household items as a result of coronavirus stockpiling.
Shoppers are limited to buying no more than five of each of the rationed goods, including antibacterial gels, wipes and sprays, dry pasta, UHT milk and some tinned vegetables
The rules apply in stores and online.
Waitrose has introduced a temporary cap on some items on its website, including some anti-bacterial soaps and wipes.

The thing about limiting the number of any item to five is that people who only intended buying two will buy an extra three. It's very clever marketing.
All food is being rationed and hand sanitizers are finished and are being sold on eBay for 50 times retail price
I've been in Morrison's and B&M this weekend and the shelves were empty. No soaps or hand sanitisers in either shop. No toilet rolls. I understand the panic buying (sort of) for those but why are people panic buying pasta?
Actually if there is any need to stockpile food (which I doubt there is) in case of food shortages, pasta which has a very long shelf life without special storage, is quite a good choice. I'm not going to mention any others - I don't want to start a stampede
A lot are treating this like a damned Zombie Apocalypse. The worst thing they can possibly do is feed into the hysteria and many are doing it.
PhilipMarc Hi, I agree that some people are treating it that way. I do feel sorry for vulnerable people who are unable to buy basics due to people stockpiling.

Rapid tests should be available for anyone...and than if someone is infected they should be isolated and stock up
I think we will very soon reach a point where you can have a test then very likely walk out and touch a contaminated surface (taxi door, building door handles, money or goods from a shop etc) and be infected when your results days later come back as negative.The more people who have it, the more they are touching things, therefore more other people are then touching those things. I would sooner everyone who possibly can should self isolate and to do that you need to have a good supply of food. There is no easy answer. I would prefer to stop work now and stay in but I know it would cause upset to my employer and the service we give, therefore I am sort of forced to put myself at risk and being in late 60s that is a fairly high risk. I really feel for those who have to work and keep the country running and feel I should carry on if only to show solidarity.
Lynibis I think the same...it is easier to prevent it in the beginning than after weeks when nearly everyone have it and it will cost much more too.
