Siblings. Friend or Foe?

Other

Just came back from weekend with sister and it is between 2.5/3 hours away by car. But we are the best of friends and no distance is too great. We are very alike in character and chat on the phone weekly for at least an hour.

2 other sisters and brother not so close but always get together at family occasions so get on well and never argue.

I have 2 brothers and don't speak to either. We were never close growing up, haven't spoken to one of them for 15 years and the other for 6. I've got nieces and nephews I've never meet and vice versa. It doesn't make me sad though, I never had a bond with either of them. I get on better with my brother in law than I did with either of my brothers. Mine are neither friend nor foe, I don't wish either of them any harm but have no interest in them either.

Oh that is sad. What do your parents feel about it? It must be awkward if they want to invite you all for a family celebration.

Lynibis not awkward at all. My parents don't talk to them either. We were adopted, my eldest brother has different adoptive parents so never had much to do with my mum and dad and middle brother hasn't spoken to my parents since he was 13, by mutual agreement.

Lynibis our family is complicated. There is obviously a long backstory to how we all stopped talking. It probably does sound quite sad when you hear it but none of us think so.

Well, that's the main thing MrsCraig. My own isn't quite so complicated but my siblings are all a lot younger. When this special sister was born she was the first of them all and it was like having my own living dolly and I loved her so much, and it was reciprocated. The others not so close as I was off to join the navy as they all came along!

Lynibis aww that is lovely that you have that bond. There are 10 years between my husband and his brother and he said he was like another parent to him sometimes, so he is very protective of him. Family can be a tricky thing at times.
