Simplifying the Alphabet Song?

Ask a Question

Not sure why it needs this change, as there are generations of people who have lived with the ‘LMNOP’ cluster - but maybe it’s easier for people who are learning English as a second language?

It doesn't need to change - I get frustrated when somebody underestimates the power of song! Songs learned in childhood will be remembered accurately for decades ahead. The quirkier the tune or rhythm the better remembered. This version sounds amateurish and there is probably somebody on a fat wage patting themselves on their back for being so innovative - not!

'a million housewives, everyday, pick up tin of beans and say.....'

I agree. I was completely outraged to hear this new version, as it spoils everything I know in life - I must be adverse to change! Lol

My son loves the alphabet song. I will not be changing how I sing it to him. I used to have a bear that sang the alphabet song and I would sit with my dad and we would sing it together. My son instantly recognises the song and smiles when he hears it.

The way the LMNOP is smushed together in the original song has always bugged me so I prefer the new one.

If it is not teaching the right spelling, than it needs to be changed, but it worked for generations.

Who can make an other one which will be better?

I remember we learnt this song first in English classes and we all liked it.
