The Simpsons Turns 30!
In the News
Do you still watch the Simpsons? What’s your favourite episode?
I have not watched it for years, but I have fond memories
Loved it as a child it was a highlight of our Sunday evenings when it was on Sky. Had some on video too. I have it on in the background sometimes as its on after Sunday Brunch but I think it's had its day
I agree. I’m sure it’s still funny, but I know the formula of the show too well, so it’s not something I’d take time out to watch. Definitely a background kind of show for me too
I still watch and enjoy The Simpsons One episode that springs to mind is E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt) (Season 11, episode 5) when Homer flees Springfield with his family after challenging a Southern colonel to a duel. They hide out at an old farm owned by Grandpa. Where they create/grow the addictive Tomacco crop with the help of some plutonium sent from the nuclear plant.
I don’t think I’ve seen that one, but it does sound familiar...and I thought I’d watched all the episodes from season 10 to 15
I love the early episodes but some of the newer episodes make me cringe it's like they've run out of ideas and forgotten what made it so great. Sometimes the humour is so flat I just have to instantly change channel as it just seems really sad how weak the series has become. Hope it doesn't get to 31 years.
Oh no, it’s sad to hear that it’s lost it’s mojo. I guess it’s one of the reasons why I stopped watching, as it’s predictable and less funny when running with the same humour. The ear episodes were indeed stronger and funnier
