Sky Box/dvd Player Storage Ideas!

For those with wall mounted tvs and no tv stand where do you keep your sky box, dvd player etc so you can hide all the wires. Im redecorating and ive got rid of a speaker i had in my shelf that was great for hiding the plugs and wires. I cant have a unit as ive got a shelf running along the bottom the wall. I will put a picture so you can see what i mean - ive already run trunking down the wall to hide then wires but need some sort of box to put my sky box in. (Ive only given the shelf an undercoat as its being painted grey from brown and the cream bit is being wallpapered so excuse the state) 
Ours is in the cupboard and the working is behind the wall. Could you get some shelves put in that you could put it on?
would put shelves up in the gap a few and make it a feature with pictures etc and to hide the wires you can get plastic wire covers
Theres trunking running down both sides of the walls with cables in so a shelf wouldnt work. Im thinking maybe i can make a little box out of wood to put them in
