The latest type of anti social behaviour being perpetrated by youths is known as ‘snapping’.
It involves doing wheelies on bikes and e bikes directly into the path of pedestrians and oncoming cars, before swerving at the very last minute.
Unfortunately, I’ve seen this. There’s a saying ‘’Play stupid games, win stupid prizes"…so if the inevitable happens…
MelissaLee1 I don’t understand what passes as entertainment these days - perhaps if they like risking lives, they ought to join the army & prep for war? May as well use some of their ‘instincts’
The only snapping that might happen in the second photo is the bike and rider snapping in two when the bus runs over the idiot
People were doing this when I was about 15 tbh and that was nearly 20 years ago, it's just madness. One mistime or one driver who's willing to plough straight through you (and there is drivers out there that will do this) and lives are ruined
If some oik rode his bike at me and my mum I would have no hesitation whatsoever at giving him/her a shove.
I first saw that a couple of years ago. Some kid on a bike filming himself. I don't care if something happens to the kids being stupid, I just want an innocent person to be injured or killed.

My brothers a bus driver & was telling me about this. Theyve had to close some bus stations & redirect some routes after certain times due to groups of lads doing this. Theres already been one death.
Glitterandgold So dangerous.Bus drivers have a tough time driving in extreme weathers and taking all sorts of abuse from an angry public.Now they have to deal with road menace as well.
To be honest this isn't really a new craze, I've had this done to me several times over the years and it's just idiots being idiots. As a matter of fact I was walking down the canal about 2 months ago and this teen lad did it to me, unfortunately for him I wasn't paying attention and so he didn't get the desired reaction from me as I didn't actually realise what was going on until he had gone past me.
Unfortunately if people start doing it on e-bikes that could be extra dangerous as the speed could be higher and they weigh more than push bikes.
MelissaLee1 Oh yeah exactly or even if they do it to someone who is older/ more fragile then even just the impact of a fall could have big consequences. People do die from being hit by bikes and I think some people don't realise that. For the teens doing it, most just think it's a bit of fun and rebelling, no harm done. But it could happen and they will be throwing their future away.
These tik tok trends need to be clamped down on, apparently the driving the wrong way thing was also a trend on there.
Wow that sounds awful. I'd pushing anyone doing that near me off their bike. No i don't care if they like it. Not my problem. I'd rather not get hurt thanks
Get a dash cam (as evidence) and go straight through them lol they might think twice doing it again
Another pathetic craze that affects the driver or pedestrian instead of the person doing it. Hopefully this doesn't stay around for long nor do I see it in person.
Swimmer94 I remember kids doing wheelies when I was growing up which was dangerous enough but driving straight at and into people is just plain senseless.
MelissaLee1 wheelies is still a huge part of life and not just kids doing it either. I've seen plenty of that lately and it's so dangerous especially when they do it on motorbikes. I'm sure we all did things we shouldn't have as a child but I wouldn't dream of doing it as an adult.

Time something was done, it's the innocent people I feel sorry for caught up in this madness.
It really feels like the soft on crime approach is leading to more and more crime and with diminishing resources that the police have as we become a more indebted country it will only get worse. We have to up the punishment to deter such crimes.
Unfortunately a teenage boy was riding his e-scooter back in 2023 and he got hit by a BMW. Yes, he was ’snapping’ as you have mentioned, never heard that phrase before but yes swerving in and out of cars and going directly in the paths of cars. I felt so sorry for the driver as the teenager a fifteen year old boy did die. This happened at 10pm at night through a quiet village. These children don’t seem to realise the dangers they are causing until it’s too late.
eyeballkerry Well BMW drivers are the worst for road accidents and statistically the most dangerous drivers by far causing a far higher amount of road incidents than their marketshare would expect. That's the trouble when I've cycled in the past safely I was always looking around for German cars as in my experience they are driven by the most inconsiderate and dangerous drivers. So many times I'd been over-taken on roundabouts and other places where they shouldn't overtake and also overtaken on normal roads only for them to have to quickly come back into lane without proper clearance between me. So its dangerous anyway with BMW drivers if you cycle safely let alone cycle recklessly. So no surprise there. I can't help wondering how fast that BMW was going in the village at 10pm. It feels like instinctively you would slow down anyway perhaps below the speed limit to be safe and make sure you saw everything that was happening.

Never knew that about BMWs .They obviously attract a certain kind of buyer.By way of possible interest I was reading that there substantially more road incidents during the blitz and the blackout aka in 1941 9,169 people were killed on Britain's roads ..more than 10 times higher than the annual figure today! Not to mentioned the increased number of muggings and pickpockets. Who needs Luftwaffe eh?We seem to do admirably well by ourselves!
The last few times that we were in the city centre on our way to the theatre, there was a group of kids doing this. The area usually has a police presence, but we couldn't see any and wondered what they would do anyway. We did alert a bus driver who was waiting to start his round that they had also placed traffic cones right against the wheels of his bus.
They're just bloody idiots.
I think people should be permitted to just knock em down but we need more town security as well.I wonder what the parents think?I know what my dad would have done if I did something similar.AlysonC
MelissaLee1 We wouldn't have been able to sit down for a week if our mum had got wind that we were doing this type of thing.
We got up to the normal type of mischief that most teenagers do - a sneaky bottle of cider shared between a big group of us hidden away in an area of the park where 'The Parky' couldn't see us - but nothing that could hurt or scare anyone.
Well, this is the first i've heard of this new craze Snapping! Whatever next! It's like kids these days always want to try and outdo each other.
Pfft really hate these people! 
damn showing off what they can do with their stupid bikes thinking they are better than everyone else with some idiotic skill! Without a care in the world about others and their cars until one day something awful happens when there’s an accident!
