Reading this headline, my initial thinking was people were being too sensitive until I watch it!!! What were they thinking, the portrayal of a gay man was really offensive, what are your thoughts

Can’t really judge as I don’t understand what is being said.

Any feedback from the LGBTQ+ community?

The advert was removed in response to their LGBTQ+ community reaction that it was insulting to gay men, that fact you can't be yourself if you are effeminate and it's much better when you confirm to a low voice man with a beard!

I've now included the link which gives a transcript of what is said.

beccatavender wow! I didn’t even realise that the long haired guy and bearded guy were meant to be the same person! I’m not surprised there were complaints. Completely homophobic

I wonder what "creative genius" thought that was a good idea. It's also changed my option of the Elton John Snickers advert gerrykelly25

beccatavender at least Elton John agreed to do the advert, as a gay man (albeit for money!) I dislike the notion that the aim in life is to be a testosterone pumped alpha male! Probably why I don’t like Snickers 😂

Didn't they do some others like this with Joan Collins and Elton John (separately), everyone thought they were funny!

I think it's because they were known showbiz who getting paid for making fun of themselves, the tone of this advert is completely different.

beccatavender TBH It's in a forgeign language but I just thought they were copying for same format abroad and that it would have meaning to people in that country, they could be famous over there for all I know?

They have withdrawn the advert and apologised. I think they misjudged the culture of the market, as there was such a backlash including from the Spanish equality minister tumblespots

beccatavender They clearly overstepped the mark then. It's actually comforting to know that some standards are being maintained as I think they get away with a lot over here.
