Socks for Swollen Ankles
Ask a Question
I’m looking to get some socks that are specifically for people with swollen ankles for a couple of family members this Christmas, but it’s hard to tell whether they’d be loose enough for them when I’m looking to buy online. One family member particularly loves the warm fluffy style of socks, but many seem to have a tight piece of elastic at the top which makes them unsuitable unfortunately.
Does anyone have any recommendations for any brands or shops to try for some that might be suitable for them?
cocolgooh I get Mother in law Gentle Grip https://gentlegrip.co.uk/ available in ladies/mens from most high street shops/amazon/ebay. They do not fall down but stay away from patterns as they don't stretch as much as the plain/spots/stripes
lilyflower Thanks for sharing this! I hadn’t heard of this company before so I’ll take a look and see what they have!
Seen the fluffy socks in Asda and known someone with the same issue as you state either them being uncomfortable due to elastic, so put a slit in each sock at that part. Done the trick.
Marks and Spencers, Pavers and Cosyfeet sell a range of ‘gentle grip’ socks. They are aimed at people with diabetes but would be suitable for your family members, I think.
Thanks! I think I’ve looked at the Cosyfeet ones before now you mention them! I’ll have to take a look at all of these.
I have to wear support socks prescribed by my GP as my feet and ankles can get really swollen but they are always cold too. I wear 'Heat Holder Socks' over the top, they aren't tight and do help me abit
It seems that swollen feet and ankles does make them cold - that’s what one of my family members is always saying too. I’ll definitely look into the Heat Holder Socks! Thanks!
You can get socks for diabetics, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cottonique-Ladies-Diabetic-Socks-Elastic/dp/B06XWD3K65/ref=sr_1_12?dchild=1&hvadid=80058221945426&hvbmt=bp&hvdev=t&hvqmt=p&keywords=socks+for+diabetics&qid=1606353315&sr=8-12&tag=mh0a9-21
Amazon have a good selection
Thanks - they look like a good option considering they have patterns too, rather than just plain ones!

cocolgooh Good quality too was well chuffed for the money . Have a read I think they're for ankles too .
Golfforall The reviews all seem really positive. They sound like they’re worth trying for the money. One family member‘s swollen ankles can end up swelling his calves too so they could be good for his calves anyway! Thanks again for the suggestion!
