Make Someone Smile and Your Day's Been Worthwhile
Other
Have you made anyone smile today? Plenty have made me frown but I have managed to get a few smiles as I went through my day. Sometimes just smiling at someone will get them to smile back.
As a spectator, I completely understand your frowns today. Sometimes it's best not to feed someone's need for attention. It's been getting quite unkind lately. I agree that when you smile most people and children reciprocate and even a complaint is received so much better with an upturned mouth.
I sometimes don't understand a person's need to be unkind or argumentative but then I remind myself that some people have a rotten life and the best they can do is take it out on a stranger. But I don't hold grudges, never have, prefer to forgive than fester. Yesterday I collected my car after passing its MOT and gave the mechanics and receptionist a pack of muffins. It was lovely to see the surprise and smile on their faces.
Yesterday got caught in traffic, journey with 2 young kids took 3.5 hours instead of 1.5, half of that taking them home. Me, the driver and they had a cracking time telling stories and singing songs, smiles all the way. Especially when we had to stop the car to let them have a wee by the roadside!
My son made plenty of people smile today. The other mums at bookbugs when he crawled to his pram to get a biscuit and then crawled back again, some of my old senior pupils when they got cuddles with him today, the grandparents of his friend from messy play when we saw them at the supermarket.
I made the librarian smile, a mummy friend from bookbugs smile and a supermarket employee.
My husband made my son smile when he came home and gave him the biggest cuddle.
I always try to be friendly to people, but it can be tough sometimes.
I hope I have, but I love laughs most of all, preferably when I get to laugh with someone. I get to do that a few times every day
At risk of repeating I work for a transport company and as a PA I am partnered with a driver. We seem to spend all day joking and laughing. So glad I work with someone I get on with or it would be awful trapped in a car with someone for all your working hours!
Lynibis yes, it certainly makes working life more bearable when you’re with people you like - even if the work is rubbish, you could cope when you’ve got decent people around you. On the flip side, time tends to stand still when you’re surrounded by people you’d never normally associate yourself with - it’s a living hell!
I live by this rule of smiling at people. and then I hope they smile at the next person so they can pass it on.
Like my Mum always said "It doesn't cost anything to give a smile". I find having a good laugh with my partner or friends keeps me smiling and I have a good giggle on my own thinking about what made us laugh.
