Sorry I Just Don't Get It - Gyms Seem to Be OK ?
In the News
Pubs closed . Restaurants closed , yes various ifs and buts -but Gyms are OK ?
I appreciate they are taking all precautions , and it is important that as many businesses as possible be allowed to continue trading , no problem with that .
But Gyms ! Ok most do gyms for laudable reasons - but it cannot possibly be safe , and could be done outdoors with minimal effort by the gyms .
Gyms are indoors . even with 2 metre distancing you have 20 people sweating and breathing very heavily in an area about the size of a double garage .
Obviously Gyms could move their equipment outside with very little effort or cost , why then are they exempt ?
Beats me ,could anyone enlighten me - I must be missing something .
Maybe there is something I'm missing and I appreciate they are doing all they can to sanitise etc . But we have all seen the videos of how far a cough can go in Supermarkets etc (5 yards +) . How can 20 people (even though 2 meters apart ) in a limited indoor space ,sweating and breathing heavily , be safe ?
Nothing against exercise , but couldn't these Gyms just move their machines into the carpark outside ? Am I missing something ?
Golfforall by not accepting 20 people in. Most gyms have a pin entry system. They will greatly reduce the number people allowed in at a time to a small number.
I also thought it was strange until I read the extra precautions that have to be taken, despite the reassurances I won't be going https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12620998/gyms-open-tier-3-lockdown-liverpool-manchester/
Gyms can easily restrict number of people inside by having the pin system to enter and an electric gate barrier at entry. They can also easily move and space out the equipment and the staff do a good job of constantly cleaning everything. Well they do at the gym I'm at.
I don't think you have missed anything.
With sweat and particularly the huffing & puffing there must be such a high propensity to catch anything, let alone covid. I don't believe that they should be open. Another stupid decision by those in charge.
