We All Stand Quiet
Other
At 11 hour on 11th of 11th month we all stand together to remember those who fought for our country.
If your in your work place store or public just stand and remember those
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
TheChimp Thanks Thechimp for sharing Harvey here I hope you’re fine take care
My son and I were in B&M and a tannoy came on and asked us all to observe the 2 minute silence. Everyone in the aisle stopped what they were doing and bowed their heads.
MrsCraig My most memorable moment of observing the silence was in Morrisons a few years ago, it came over the tannoy & everyone just stopped. It was a very surreal moment, very touching. I was home alone this year but theres something deeper & emotional observing the silence with others. Seems like your lil mam picked up on it too.
Lest we forget!
Glitterandgold it was very touching to see, a very emotional moment. He certainly did pick up on it, he even stopped eating his snack.
Your experience in Morrisons sounds very moving.
I'm so surprised that this thread.has only hat 7 comments atm .
I am so embarrassed to be part of a community on LD who dontt seem to give a s#it.
Ann1984 Many wouldn't have seen this topic until after the time for the two minutes had passed*, and many of us don't feel we need to mention the fact that we observed the two minutes silence retrospectively.
* Judging by time of posting indicator (now 7hrs ago - at just after 6.00pm) this topic was posted very close to 11.00 am.
davidstockport I agree about the time of sharing - I was actually observing the silence myself so it seemed irrelevant to comment retrospectively. I think many others felt the same.
Ann1984 I don't usually get online until mid afternoon and I'm reasonably certain many others don't either. So lack of response to this topic doesn't indicate any lack of respect. (as suggested).
davidstockport I shared my thoughts on here as don’t use other social media I didn’t mind if no one commented it was just put out there with a nice poem as I did with the abervan disaster
Ann1984 There was no objection by me about this topic - I was merely explaining why the topic might not have had much response. I'm sure there was no disrespect from those who didn't respond. The biggest lack of respect on this topic was a posting, you or others might not have seen, as it was removed even before I had the chance to finish my complaint about it. Thanks to the moderator who removed it so quickly. (probably less than 10 minutes - without any intervention by me).
bit harsh to suggest that people didn't comment because they didn't give a s#t. I observe the silence and think it is a good thing, but I probably would not have commented on this topic as I didnt feel the need to. I certainly do give a s##t.
stood up proudly at 11, this day is so important and shouldn't be forgotten, im sure others did too just havent had time to post
