7 million trees a year are cut down to make toilet paper and only a fraction is recycled
There are alternatives such as going arab, no thank you, or flushing with water, but there would be a surge in water usage and create another problem
Someone needs to come up with another alternative
Well I for one will use toilet roll or a wet toilet wipe why invent these things if now won’t to stop
Use a sponge on a stick like in the Roman times ? And share it ?
I was looking at getting a toilet add on to wash my bottom 
Would the surge of water to wash your bottom be more than they use to make the toilet roll? That’s the question.

Maybe someone would be offended when you say i want a ' full english ' or i would like a 'chinese' , or by saying 'going dutch ' , where does it end ?
Maybe i could re-phrase what i said as 'going to the toilet the arab way '

The Old Bill here in Wales took someone to court for calling them 'sheep sh*ggers' saying that it was racist. Case got thrown out thankfully.

sam07 Thankfully no, but i have travelled a lot and in morocco for example this is the practice there
If you google it you will see this, here is one article explaining it, you will also note they wash their hands many times during the day in their religion

I've had this discussion so many times with my work colleagues. I don't use loo roll as its expensive, unhygienic (In my opinion), seen countless loo's blocked cos of it. Water is so much cleaner and free.
If you got a bit of poo on your hands would you wipe it off or wash it properly with water?
If you answered water then I don't understand why that's not used on other parts of the body after one has been to the loo?
Jeez, environmentalists are always finding problems, unnecessarily.
They're lucky they live in first world countries or else they'd have serious problems.
It makes more sense to use a water gun/hose to get a better clean, although it’s not common place over here yet
I suppose if we go back to using newspaper, which clearly had another purpose first, then that would be ok? Not too sure about the water method! 
tumblespots I LOVE this!!!!! Seriously tho .... I'd go with the flow ...water if it was easy and a decent price to install ....it'd save trees, blocked loos .... and septic tank problems too and I'm thinking the water would be multi functional ....do my bum and flush the pan too!?
I'll stick to using toilet paper thank you. Got to have some luxuries in this life and a clean bum is one of them!
