Store Closures
Ask a Question
There are a lot of stores/business closing lately. What shops are you happy to see go? Are you sad to see any of the stores go?
I wouldn't be "happy" per say, but if GAME went out of business that would be a good thing for customers as they overcharge consumers. Awful for employees, obviously.
However, Sports Direct owner what's his name bought GAME too, so it's not closing down.
Not sure I'd be happy to see any go, as it usually means redundancies and empty shops leading to a further deterioration of the town. If I don't like or need a shop I just don't go in there .
I'd like to see more repair shops, s/hand shops and shops selling refurbished items. I'd like to see indoor markets where larger shops used to exist. Maybe indoor carboots. I'm not sure it would be fair to say I was sad to see certain shops go because I often didn't use them but I liked to browse in shops like Maplins and local bike shops many of which have closed now. I used to like the 99p store which sold slightly different items to poundland and now poundland have taken over the 99p store chain there is less choice.
I wouldn't miss the likes of House of Fraser, who have now become a junk shop, but they’re still hanging on. In their places, I’d prefer to see more independent shops, those that sell unique things and add a bit more creativity to the market. The high street is just a wave of shops pretty much selling the same things
